To them, the police power of 'majority will' is just a given principle. Their faith in 'democracy' has no limit, just as their trust in our Constitutions republican principles is sorely lackingi do find their moral superiority complex to be amusing. Ironically, it is my faith and study of the bible that lead me to believe that Libertarianism is the best possible system of government for sinful man. Others would rather put their faith in government to 'redeem society' through moral prohibitionist nonsense. i know that it's God's job, not mine. i believe that God knows what He is doing in respect to mankind.
I think what you two don't get is we are no longer in the America of the 1700s with vast open spaces with low density.
We live in highly populated areas where you can't just do anything without an instant effect on a neighbor.
I think the only reason you have drug laws, alcohol laws and speed laws is that we are not living in barren lands anymore.
I always tell Libertarians or Anarchists that if you want extreme rights to do almost anything, you need to by an isolated island and do your own thing. Then you are not effecting a neighbor and can be high on drugs and alcohol while barking and the moon naked in your back yards.
