Rush Limbaugh Under New Investigation

Rush Limbaugh Under New Investigation Sign In to E-Mail This Print Save By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: June 27, 2006 Filed at 11:45 a.m. ET WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Rush Limbaugh could see a deal with prosecutors in a long-running prescription fraud case collapse after authorities found a bottle of Viagra in his bag at Palm Beach International Airport. The prescription was not in his name. Limbaugh was detained for more than three hours Monday at the airport after returning from a vacation in the Dominican Republic. Customs officials found the Viagra in his luggage but his name was not on the prescription, said Paul Miller, a spokesman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office. Miller said the alleged violation could be a second-degree misdemeanor. The sheriff's office was investigating and will soon turn the case over to the state attorney's office, which had no immediate comment Tuesday. Under the deal reached last month with prosecutors, Limbaugh was not to be arrested for any infraction for 18 months in exchange for authorities deferring a charge of ''doctor shopping.'' Prosecutors had alleged the conservative talk-show host illegally deceived multiple physicians to receive overlapping painkiller prescriptions. Limbaugh also must submit to random drug tests and continue treatment for his admitted addiction to painkillers. Limbaugh's doctor had prescribed the Viagra, but it was ''labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes,'' Roy Black, Limbaugh's attorney, said in a statement. U.S. Customs and Border Protection examined the 55-year-old radio commentator's luggage after his private plane landed at the airport, Miller said. Investigators confiscated the drugs, which treat erectile dysfunction. Limbaugh was released without being charged.

LOL.

I'd be prouder of mine if it wasn't so doggone long. I belong in a 12-step! From the day I made my first post. (To my credit, I lurked for almost 7 years...but it was that first one that sent me spiraling into addiction.)

You have an interesting take on things. Hope to see you around and have a good evening.

If it makes you feel better...I agree with you 100% philosophically. In addition, I live and have always lived that way myself because as a Christian it is the only lifestyle that squares with what is asked of us. I have only slept with my husband...and that was AFTER we were married. (Sorry, I know, too much information.) He is my first husband, and, God-willing my ONLY husband for the rest of our lives.

That said, I do not hold others to that standard in order call themselves conservatives. Conservatism is not religion. It is a political belief system open to many interpretations and committed to very specific government/civic related goals.

Therefore, while I agree with your post wholeheartedly regarding sex within the confines of marriage for myself, I am not in any way going to hold a basically areligous man like Rush to that standard. (Although if he asked, I would certainly share my position.)

God gave ALL of us free will. Therefore, I respect that, especially constitutionally.

Viagra is available over-the-counter in many countries, as well as in US territories such as Puerto Rico.

Is this NYT report a joke. Did this really happen?

The NYT doesn't have a sense of humor. Yes, this really happened. IMO, it's just a continuation of the Palm Beach County DA still trying to find something he can hang on Limbaugh.

The best the prosecutor will get is a misdeamenor charge on Rush, and his doctor will get a warning letter from the Med Licensing Board.

This was meant to defame Rush, and on the contrary, women from across the country are stepping forward to applaud Rush, and pledge their amnity.

That must rot the Dems socks, the whole thing has just made Rush more popular!

Of course , the Dems seek to drive a wedge between Rush and the religious conservative right, so he will be branded as amoral, and a sinner whose opinions no longer matter. That is where the Dem true delight is.

In fact, liberal writers are already speculating that Rush was in the Dominican Republic seeking out hookers: http://www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/38192/ If Rush were smart, he'd be working toward finding a fourth Mrs. Limbaugh.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Maybe Rush is looking, thats why he was in DR.

This is called NAFTA research. The UN dems do it all the time and are howling because Rush has invaded their turf in th Dominican Republic, which is BTW, the home of the most ravishing women in the Western hemisphere.

At least Rush is having a good time on his vacations.

Sex tourism is a thriving trade in the DR. Good for Rush.

I used to travel a lot (by Amtrak), and I always carried the pills in the original prescription bottles. It was inconvenient, but less so than having to answer questions in a strange city if it ever came up.

What's next for Rush? Breaking down the door of his home to be sure he didn't rip the tags off his mattresses?

He does seem like the type who would do something like that. Better call in the SWAT team. :)

Just what is he doing with Viagra when he isn't married?

And for that matter, why is he going to a third-world country for a couple of days with a bunch of Viagara on him?

Shouldn't they be spending their valuable time investigating CHILD RAPISTS & MURDERERS?!!!...

This is why people don't take the law seriously anymore. Just to many damn laws and selective enforcement can turn anyone into a criminal even if they aren't harming themselves or anyone else. I've offered this before, but I think one law would just about cover everything. Live and let live. Any violation of it is just a matter of degree.

But whether he is or not, 1) taking perscription drugs through customs 2) bearing someone else's name 3) when you are on parole for oxycontin abuse is (to be kind) extremely poor judgement.

Well it would be poor judgement if anything you wrote even remotedly resembled the truth.

Lots of people take prescription drugs through customs every day, many no longer in their original containers and never get stopped or questioned as to the validity of the prescription.

Lots of celebrities have non de plumes on their scripts and don't tell me custom agents don't know this. In this case in was the dispensing doctor's name and easily checked and passed on.

Lastly, Rush is not on parole. You are seriously misinformed.

I sent you a private message, but I thought it was also important for me to make a public reply (so the non-Christians could see also):

You were right; I was wrong. This is a political message board, not a religious one. If people want to live apart from God's laws, that is their business... government shouldn't interfere with that. I will try my best to keep that in mind with my future posts!

I was harsh towards you unfairly. People should be able to have sex with whomever they want as often as they want; we aren't to judge... that's God's place!

The Holy Spirit convicted my through your posts, pollyannaish! People are allowed to live their lives however they want! They can have sex with as many people as they want! I shouldn't judge! I must be faithful though and say that I don't think it's the BEST way to live!

I also don't want non Christians out there to think that God doesn't love them just because they live sinful lifestyles... WE ALL DO! God loves you just as much as he loves me and pollyannaish! Turn to him and you will change your life for the better. I have received blessings I never could haved DREAMED of by living for HIM!
