Ailes 'Fuming' at Fox News Channel
Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes is reportedly "on the warpath about his networks recent ratings slide and has given notice to staffers that hes willing to clean house, according to a report in Broadcasting & Cable.
The cable news channels overall prime-time ratings are off 8 percent in the second quarter of this year, and down 22 percent in viewers ages 25 to 54. The first quarter was also disappointing.
Rival CNN is also down, but only 2 percent overall in the second quarter and 18 percent in the 25-54 age group.
Ailes is said to be "fuming over what he views as complacency among staffers, according to B&C.
He feels production values are slipping and bookers arent aggressive enough, relying too heavily on the same faces.
A full-page "Now Hiring ad that ran recently in a trade magazine asked, "Can you make the cut?
Broadcasting & Cable reports that a Fox staffer said the question was not addressed to outside applicants. "That was aimed inside.
An Ailes spokesman declared: "Anyone who displays launch-type intensity will continue to have a job at Fox News. Those who dont will not. And that includes talent.
Roger, you might need to stop going to movie stars weddings.
Don't forget the people who brung you to the ball.
Ditto on Julian and send Alison Camerata (sp?) with him. A bigger airhead I've never seen and she spends half her time preening and rearranging her body in what she must regard as a sexy pose. Also, QUIT TRYING TO BE COURT TV. If I want to watch Court TV I know how to use my remote. I want news, not Perry Mason.
Fox News Alerts are completely out of control. A car blows a tire on I-95 and it is a News Alert. Then they keep repeating the Alert for the next two full moons.
I cannot watch the Beltway Boys any longer as both Fred and Mort, but particularly Fred, cannot get one complete sentence out.
When I see Juana Williams face come on, the channel is changed.
TOO MUCH ARUBA!!
TOO MUCH DUKE!!
Too many crappy ex-CNN types.
And finally, an obvious turn towards the left, rather than staying in the middle.
Dump Shemp.
So what cable news outlet do you tune into now that is more conservative than FNC?
Let me know 'cause I haven't found it yet!
Good grief, pick a topic that needs discussing and have an intelligent discussion.
Get some new faces too.
She's a scientologist. So, she's clearly nuts.
oreilly's got a limited shelf life. he's turned into a demagogue. vis: trying to tag big oil, is the man really so stupid that he doesn't understand the global nature of the oil market? make US oil companies sell for 50 and you just open up the black market where it sells for just under 70. arbitrage city.
o'reilly is very stupid on economic matters, and unfortunately they will be coming to the fore, quickly. if o'reilly has any brains, and i'm not saying he does, he'll find a hot chick who can explain markets and intermarket activity to his viewers. louis ruykeyser just died, he used to have some knockout blondes on his show. o'reilly should go trolling for a couple of them.
You left out Alan Colmes.
What is a pity is that they are looking for the next girl to be kidnapped in Aruba, or the next celebrity murder to pull them out of this ratings slide.
They've bothered me for years. I mean, what "boys", how 'bout "The Beltway Dried Up Old Men Over Retirement Age?"
AMEN!
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my FoxFan list. *Warning: This can be a high-volume ping list at times.
Sorry, Doocy and ED should be at the top of the list. Brian is the only one worth keeping.
I like Jim Angle.
Along with FR I get a lot of my news at a website called MyWay.
Have no use for the talking heads, other than Brit Hume who happens to come on when it's dinner time here.
Nooo, not Alysin -- She's not preening, she's self-conscious.
Fox is good for about one hour--Brit Hume's show. Other than that, HGTV or just about any channel will do if I MUST have the teevee on. Otherwise, I get my news on FR.
Unfortunately O'Really thinks ED Hill is hot.
