UN SECRETARY-General Kofi Annan has called for restraint as Israeli troops massed on the Gaza border for a possible offensive after the kidnapping of a soldier.
Annan urged all parties to "exercise restraint at this grave moment, and to take all possible steps to avoid further escalation and bloodshed," his spokesman said.
According to the spokesman, the secretary general was "alarmed" at the recent events triggered by a Palestinian militant raid early Sunday on an Israeli army post on the Gaza Strip border.
Two Israeli servicemen and two Palestinian fighters were killed and a 20-year-old Israeli corporal, who also holds French nationality, was snatched by the raiders.
Annan's spokesman said the UN chief had called for the "safe and immediate release" of the captured soldier.
Three Palestinian groups, including the armed wing of Hamas, has called for the release of all Palestinian women and children from Israeli jails in exchange for information on the kidnapped soldier.
The deal was rejected by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who has ordered commanders to prepare a major offensive after the abduction.
Translation: He's telling Israel to capitulate to terrorism, as usual.

These guys always say they want restraint from the victims. For the aggressors, they don't care a damn what the agressors do, as long as it's harmful to Western civilization.

Hopefully, Israelis should ingore these ignorant statements from a useless man, running a useless organization.
I really hope that Israel finally proclaims a big "screw you" to EVERYBODY, and just takes care of the problem.
