Petitions due in by July 4, 2006! Do the patriotic thing before the 4th of July, and SIGN A PETITION FOR DYLAN'S LAW - NOW!!! Go to onestrikelaw.org for information for where you can go to sign... Dylan's Law is in need of more signatures to get us over the top and get this on the November Ballot! We have to STOP LETTING THESE PEOPLE FREE TO HURT OUR CHILDREN! Help put them away for LIFE! This initiative 921 known as Dylan's Law was named after Shasta Groene's (the little girl found in the Denny's in Coeur D' Alene, IDAHO)'s little brother Dylan Groene who was murdered over in Monatana. WE NEED TO STOP LETTING THESE CHILD MOLESTERS OUT TO RE-OFFEND!!! Please get up off your behinds, and get out there and find a petition to sign before July 4th! And don't forget to vote for Dylan's law in November! Jessica's Law (I believe) is a watered down version of Dylan's Law (in Washington State at least), and I don't think there are enough petitions signed to pass that one on to the November ballot! This initiative drive is really flawed. Not because the law is wrong, it isn't. Sex offenders should be castrated and locked away forever. It's flawed because it doesn't target Seattle.

I know some people are going to say that Seattle is the liberal capital of Seattle. They are right. But Seattle isn't 100% liberals. If ~40% are conservative, within a 3 million person metropolitan area (over half the population of the state), this initiative is ignoring over 1 million potential signers. In fact there are only 2 (2!) businesses in the city of Seattle that have the petition. Compare this to the number in Spokane! If half the people in the Spokane metropolitan area signed the petition it would still not be enough! If 10% of the people in the Seattle metropolitan area signed the petition it would enough by a large margin.

Do you have any figures that disagree with the ones shown? I could only find a 1996 study by the Bureau of Justice and the figures weren't much different. It also said that most offenders are into drugs and other violent crime.

What I find amazing about that is: I don't care if they never re-offend....isn't it enough that they have already hurt one child so badly?

So they don't re-offend (I question that) that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be locked up for life. The two are not related, just linguistic gymnastics from the left to try and shift the focus. Lock the scum up for life the first time.

Dylans Law is after the VIOLENT SEX OFFENDERS - and the statistics on that are MUCH MUCH DIFFERENT! I wish I had statistics on JUST THE VIOLENT SEX OFFENDERS, but I don't! Perhaps the head organizer of Dylan's Law will give me that answer! I will let ya know when I do!

If this is a one-strike-and-you-are-out law, it needs to be worded so that we don't jail a 16yo boy for having sex with his 15yo girlfriend for the rest of his life.

These "sex offender" laws in other states have sometimes gone overboard.

It is worded correctly, check it out on the web page if you want, this deals with victims 13 and under, and ONLY WITH ADULTS! and it has to be "violent offenders". Also deals with Adults comiting violent acts on other adults!

I wouldn't trust the words of anyone who would defend the scum of the earth.The study is flawed because it only follows the scum for three years.I bet the numbers are a lot different for five and ten years when the scum is off of probation.Does this guy expect us to believe that we were able to rehabilitate the one kind of criminal that doctors say is impossible to rehabilitated?

I just wanted to make some topics that have come up on this blog clear to everyone.

1. The reason Seattle doesn't have as many Dylan's Law Supporters as we'd like is because we do not have the media attention and therefore do not have the volunteers & business support like we do over in Eastern Washington. It isn't because people do not want to sign, it is because people do not know about Dylan's Law.

2. This law isn't trying to put away people convicted stachatory (sp) rape, or the drunk peeing in public. ONLY violent sex offenders who rape, molest, sodomize... more information on exact laws under Dylan's Law can be found on www.onestrikelaw.org under the link "Layman's Guide". BUT if a 25 year old man is having sex with a 15 year old girl, THAT IS WRONG and is considered rape (depending on the judge sometimes).

3. Please do not take your stats from tv stations. We have spent a countless amount of time gathering our stats from our own justice department and DOC and other credible agencies.

EX: 1 in 6 kids will be raped, molested or sodomized by 18.

It costs tax payers $500,000 per predator per year to house violent sex offenders in special housing, where it only costs $22-30,000 per year per inmate including health care to be in prison.

Only 17% of violent sex crimes are ever reported.

Average predator that likes boys averages 150 victims

Average predator that likes girls averages 52 victims

57% of registered sex offenders re-offend in a sex related crime within 6 years of release.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND, WE ARE ONLY REPORTING ON THE CRIMES WE KNOW OF. If only 17% of violent sex crimes are reported, then the 1 in 6 & 57% stats are MUCH higher.

Hundreds of innocent people were convicted of molesting children in the daycare abuse witch hunts in the 80s/90s. Wasn't it bad enough that their lives were ruined by hysterical yahoos? Or would it be better if they were dead now?
