My guys were Army and there are some things they have to buy themselves. Helmet donuts were one. It cushions the top of the helmet from grinding into their head. They had to buy camo face paint, bug repellant, shoe polish etc. You're issued a "helmet liner" that chews your head. Donuts you buy. You have to buy "blousing straps" that go around the pant leg above the boot and inside the pants to make the pants blouse above the boot. Some of this is silly stuff and some makes life easier and more comfortable like the donut or helmet pads. The pads are "new" since 2000 or so.

A Donut or helmet pads are only for comfort and not safety??

I'd love to see all the technical details.

If you scroll down, this page shows the inside of the helmets and what the pads are.

Helmets on Operation Helmet.

Not exactly. Go to the link in post 125. Inside the helmet you'll see a huge "ring" in the top of the helmet. That can do damage if driven into your head. Even without force, that ring hurts.

I am beginning to think that a prerequisite to being and 'entertainer/actor/actress' is that your elevator does not reach the top floor or that you have used so many drugs that many of your brain cells have left the room.

more of your 'birds of a feather' rantings ???
And speaking of guilt by association, pay no attention to Bill Clinton and the Bush family.

No... do people in Hollywood and on the left make up stories???? Thanks for filling me in. Now I'm up on that one.

The truth of the story is worth investigating. If they need donations for helmets, I'm sure lots of people would relish the opportunity to contribute.

Quix it is obvious, and was from your first post, you are NO Cher fan. None of us are.

I despise what she said about Chrisitan Republicans but it's nice that she cares enough to help buy the troops proper inserts for their helmets.

I'm curious to know why Cher thinks it's up to everyone else to foot the bill, when she could buy 5000 of these for a paltry $500,000.

That's probably the price of a couple of Bob Mackie outfits for her, not to mention how she profited from the videos featuring her on a Navy ship with her fifty year old ass hanging out.

Now it's time to give back and she's calling C-Span to bitch about President Bush and shame the public into giving what she won't give herself.

Typical.

So would it be a good idea to contribute to the helmet site?

Thank you for all the detailed information.

I CANNOT BEAR THESE PEOPLE FOR ANOTHER MOMENT.

Okay... That does it, gang! What more reason do we need to vote for Jeb in '08? C'mon, don't you want to watch this witch and her nine face lifts melt away? And she wouldn't be the only one. I'm sure there'd be a whole bunch of coronaries in Hollywood if Jeb won.

I just reread #99 and I apologize for directing it to you.

Some points were not well said & even harsh...

...I don't retract my sentiments in general, but should have directed them to those ...here...who have been provocative and combative in their posts.

You weren't.
I do apologize.

Your comments provoke me, but I'm responsible for my reaction.....and I was emotionally reactive yesterday.

...Suffice to say I'm not going to change your mind/and you don't see the compromise of your statements.

So be it.

I am still of the opinion that folks (like Cher) who don't respect the man, George Bush, should/could respect the office he holds & the awesome duty he commands.

It is hurtful to me that people like Cher can get away with ugly, hateful attention getting comments and use (our military) to her advantage in her quest to denigrate, insult and malign our President and his cabinet.

She belittles any and all effort and thinks her contribution gives her the right to disrepect him and call him names.

I call it compromise......at the very least!

I guess you call it something else.

Cher is something else.

Regarding me:

You are simply wrong in your analysis;

wrong in your interpretation;

wrong in your labeling;

wrong in your judgments.

Thankfully, we can all be forgiven, as you are.
