I would only disagree in as much as the party is at war with Joe, not Joe with his party. Of course, it's not his party anymore. Nor the party of John Kennedy, Hubert Humphrey or Franklin Roosevelt, for that matter.
That is the theme we must pursue from now on.
Were the Democrats of the 30s, 40s and 50s alive today they would piss on the Democrat party "leaders" of today and their blatantly anti-American position.
I can argue, without fear of contradiction, that Harry Truman would have some suitably un-quotable comments on the current crop of Democrat "leaders.'
Question. I keep hearing the Democrat party is not what it used to be, and I understand that.
I wonder if past policy and platforms helped "create" the Democrat party of today and IF JFK, FDR and the rest actually contributed to the degradation of their party into what it is today? Surely it would be unintended consequences, but was it in part responsible in your mind?
From a non-college graduate w/a job in retail to VP not being privy to the building of The Bomb and being caught unawares at FDR's sudden death...his voice shook as he took the oath of office.., he went on to become a fearless and responsible ("The buck stops here.")occupant of the Oval Office who fired MacArthur when he disobeyed orders, authorized dropping the bomb that finally ended the long WWII, then retired gracefully.
He was one Democrat that I admired. But like you say, Democrats were different then. (President Reagan, a former Dem and a Rep President said the Dem Party left HIM.)
(I agreed w/the critic about Margaret Truman's musical ability, but I understood Harry as her father taking umbrage. LOL)
