Disability is a godsend for those who really need it - and something we should all support. But, as usual, the good intentions of caring people has been exploited by the usual suspects... Disability as welfare substitute is the new crime generating machine -- we could reap the whirlwind on this one.

I see plenty of people labeled "disabled" that are in better shape that I am. I don't begrudge a truly disabled person the appropriate assistance, but the bar has been lowered to the point that almost anyone can make a claim.

My 26 year old son has had 4 open heart surgeries. He has had a pacemaker installed since age 15. He has ADD and isn't particularly emotionally mature. That doesn't stop him from getting up 5 days a week to work at Deseret Industries. I'm not certain he will ever be able to make enough money to be self sufficient. His real physical and mental problems go way beyond the lazy buttwipes claiming "authority aversion" to put themselves on the disability dole. My son has thus far eschewed the label "disabled".
