Murtha "war" record

Posted on 06/24/2006 6:53:43 PM PDT by TexasPatriot8

Well, as is ALWAYS the case, the truth comes out eventually (you'd think the democrats would learn this eventually). And as it turns out, Murtha isn't even as big a war hero as John Kerry, and John Kerry did't see or really do squat in his pathetic three months in Vietnam (You did know Kerry served in Vietnam right?). Got this from a friend of mine, a REAL Vietnam war vet. Don't know how much this has already been sent around and is known about already, and I didn't see an applicable thread on FR already, so I thought I'd post it since it's well worth it and important to know about Murtha. Give this a good read and then pass it around to everyone you know. Are there ANY "war heros" among the democrats who are REALLY war heros, and not just cowards who are rewriting history to make them look like they are. The real war heros don't brag about it to then give them some kind of standing to critique the war. Murtha is a coward and a nothing but a little weekend warrior pretending to be a tough war hero. Only two of his 37 years in the Marines was active duty time, and he wasn't in combat in Vietnam. Read on.

"Double checking press accuracy ...

What is a War Hero?

I've been listening to Congressmen Jack Murtha's negative comments about the war in Iraq for some months now. I've heard him repeatedly described as a "war hero". Thirty-seven years in the Marine Corps.

Wow! I visualize a burly ex-marine, his chest bedazzled with medals, the survivor of countless combats in Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf War. A man who knows war and combat from the inside out. A man with the experience that allows him to see that the war in Iraq is hopeless and we should all quit and go home.

Although I've been turned off by Murtha's remarks, I never questioned his war hero status. Nor has our liberal press which is why Murtha has been getting away with his charade! Then the other day, bingo, I suddenly knew something was rotten in Denmark about Jack Murtha's war hero status. I've been bothered by his comments in the past but his latest remarks about Marines killing civilians in cold blood caught my attention. Whether this turns out to be true or not, something just didn't compute. That was the moment when I woke up and said, "Hey, I'm going to check this guy out." No real Marine who's "been there" would prejudge combat troops prior to the release of a military inquiry.

And what did I find. Did I find a man of vast operational experience with an extensive combat record? No. I found a man whom fellow congressman Don Bailey of Pennsylvania, silver star and three bronze stars, calls a liar and a phony. A man who came to Bailey crying and sobbing, thanking him for saving Murtha from the ethics committee (on Abscam-related charges) at which time he admitted to Bailey that his purple hearts weren't earned. A man with a couple of years of active duty and the rest of his 37 year career spent in the Marine Corps Reserve. A man with one year in Vietnam as a staff intelligence offer. A man who's no more been in combat or is a war hero than I am. Even John Kerry has more combat experience than Jack Murtha.

(I know flight attendants who have spent more time in Danang than either one of these jerks. ... Luke)

So what is a War Hero? Well at the bare minimum, a war hero would have to be somebody who's actually been in combat, somebody who's been in direct contact with the enemy over some extended period of time, somebody who's been shot at and/or had their life repeatedly threatened like infantry or the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force pilots who flew over Vietnam, somebody who has performed his or her duties in a heroic manner.

And what is Jack Murtha? Just one more scheming politician, a Democrat, sensing a change in the direction of the political winds. A man who volunteered for a year's duty in Vietnam as an intelligence officer so he could come home and run for congress i n 1968 as a war hero. Barf. Sound familiar? A man who's thinking about the next election and hoping he's on the right side when it comes.

As a citizen and as a congressman Murtha has every right to express his opinion on the Vietnam War - but not cloaked in the mantle of a Marine Corps war hero with vast experience in such matters. His comments are very destructive to the morale of our troops and have only one objective - to get reelected.

Regards, Dick

PS I also think Murtha's a bit unhinged."

So he applied for them after he was already back in the States? How many did he get going that route? Do guys like him have no shame? And then you have awesome men and women like Lt.Col. Ollie North who got his first two for wounds received in combat, and then declined THREE MORE Purple Hearts so he could stay in Nam and fight! What a difference between North and Murtha.

Your buddy Dick does know that Jack Murtha enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1952 and served in Korea doesn't he. He then rose to a drill instructor and then onto OCS. I have no use for his political views but I'd give him a tad more for his military than your bud Dick does.

Concur. He is a pure scumbag politician, but he did serve, which is more than I can say for most people I know, and I'm sure a lot of those griping on this board.

Even with that in mind, he should be tried as a traitor.

So he didn't serve in Korea either. He isn't just mostly a fraud, he's 100% a fraud and nothing but! What a crock! This guy really needs to be destroyed.

I think you are probably 100% correct. The problem is, the Democrats made a MAJOR mistake by picking such a fallable joke to be their mouthpiece against the war. Murtha needs to be broken and shamed in the eyes of the American people and shown to be what he is. An opportunist and a traitor to all those who have REALLY worn the uniform of the United States military.

Additionally, during his three year active enlisted stint he rose to the rank of GYSGT and was a Boot Camp Drill Instructor. How does one do all that in a mere three years?!

I understand promotions could be earned faster back in the day but Sheesh! Then there is a big black hole during his Post Viet nam Reserve career. Not a single award, accomplishment or deployment until his retirement DSM(kiss) in 1990. Somethin stinks.......

My biggest problem with him is he only served on active duty one out of the ten years of Vietnam when he was in the USMCR. If he had a distinguished record that would be one thing, but he has nothing to write home about.

Indeed. Front and center with Abscam with one hand in the air and the other in the cookie jar. And according to Congressman Bailey, Murtha was crying like a little girl begging not to be kicked out of Congress and sent to jail.

You, sir, are many times the military hero than Murtha because you did it for your country and Murtha did it for his political career and to appear unimpeachable. That's what makes Murtha so vile and disgusting. He soils the honorable time served by you and almost all other military personnel over the past 230 years.

Good morning.

How many grunts here in the FreeRepublic remember seeing a "staff intelligence officer" out in the boonies with them?

I was a Lurp for two years and an adviser for nine months. Gathering intelligence was my job and I don't remember any. Murtha is another phony, like john Kerry and his delivery driver buddy Harkin.

Yeah really. These guys like Murtha and Kerry must really think they were smarter than everyone else. They really thought they could have these medals on paper, and then years later hold them up in the public eye to prop up their political careers and make them unassailable by their opponants, and really thought no one would question them or their authenticity. What fools! Murtha is a fraud and his Bronze star and other "medals and citations" might as well of come out of a box of Cracker Jacks for all it matters. He wouldn't make a pimple on a good Marine's a**

I have such contempt for them that my vocabulary lacks what I require to express adequately my passion.

Here is one that I used the other day to express my feelings about hillery clinton:

Her outrageous insolence creates profound aversion in me that makes me truculent.

I spent some time at the webtionary site to come up with that. But it sounds better then repeating Yosemiti Sam, 'OHHHHHHHHHH, I haaaaaaaate that rabbit'.

So Murtha litterally is just a fatter older less charismatic version of John Effing Kerry. No difference in them at all.

You're welcome, but truly I did nothing, I just posted it here. Got it from a really good military vet friend of mine. This info needs to be out there and used as a weapon against he liberals propping Murtha up as the posterboy for getting out of Iraq. Like someone said here last night, we need to Redeploy Murtha! Big time.

This may help explain Murtha's motives...

Contrary to popular opinion, Rep. John Murtha, the ex-Marine who called for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, is no hawk.
He may also soon be probed for misusing defense appropriations.

"If you want anything done on the committee, you go to Murtha."

He's delivered so much pork to his congressional district, an airport and a major highway are named after Murtha.

Ashdown and his nonpartisan watchdog group criticized Murtha for using the $417 billion fiscal 2005 Pentagon spending bill to give business to his lobbyist brother.

The Los Angeles Times in June reported that Murtha funneled nearly $21 million to 10 or more corporate clients of KSA Consulting, where Robert "Kit" Murtha is a senior partner.

Carmen Scialabba, a Murtha congressional aide for 27 years, is also a high-ranking official at KSA.

The newspaper Roll Call reported that there might be a House ethics committee investigation of Murtha's apparent improprieties.

But is that possible now that Murtha has become the media's "hawk with a conscience?"

Come to think of it, could Murtha have been thinking about a possible ethics investigation when he decided to throw himself into the public limelight week?

Good morning.
"I wouldn't lean much on those three years in Korea."

The war "ended" in 1953. Murtha enlisted in 1952, sometime in 1952. How long is boot camp and how long would it take him to go over? I have a friend who was drafted late in '52, made it over early in '53 and never heard a shot fired. What was Murtha's MOS back then? He is a phony, but even if he is Chesty Puller reborn, his actions today are what matter.

Let's redeploy Hack Murtha's keyster to North Korea, Coward Dean to Iran, and Kohn Kerry to France. Then we could carpet nuke them.

Or we could shoot the traitors for treason and be done with it.

The left likes to say stuff like, 'just because we disagree with Bush, you call us traitors and that is wrong'. No it is not. IF you have the Freedom to act like a traitor, then I should have the Freedom to call you a traitor.

I don't like to call people a traitor without a reason. I've posted this before, but this is my reason for calling them traitors:

Our Troops in Iraq are trying to build a relationship with the Iraqi people. We are asking the Iraqi people to be Police and Soldiers. We are asking the Iraqi people to Govern their own nation. We are asking the Iraqi people to show us where the bad guys are. Then Hack Murtha, Coward Dean, and a mess of other commie traitors stand up and yell, 'we need to pull out of Iraq!!! YEEEEHAAAAW!!!!'.

Well this makes the Iraqi Government, the Iraqi Police, the Iraqi Soldiers, and especially the Iraqi people who would like to show us where the bad guys are think twice about helping our Troops. Now, let's not forget that the terrorist threaten the Iraqi people by saying, 'if you work with the US we will kill your family'. Then when we ask the Iraqi people to help and the Iraqi people are hearing our politicians back home yelling, 'we need to pull out'. Who would you work with if you were in that situation?

The Iraqi people know that Al Quada in Iraq are not talking about pulling out. We all know that a US early withdraw is exactly what the terrorist in Iraq want. All good people know that if we withdraw now the terrorist will survive. And it don't take an genius to figure that out. Because of Murtha and Dean's words and actions, the Iraqi people will think twice about helping our Troops. The words of Murtha hurts our cause and helps the terrorist. That is treason. Therefore, Demorats like Kerry, Kennedy, Dean, and Murtha are traitors.

I said it once and I'll say it again: if you have the damn freedom to act like a traitor, then by my inalienable right I can call you a frickin' traitor!

If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.
