Happy Birthday!

Tonight's TV Classic, an Eighties gem:

21 Jump Street

This was one of the first hit shows for the fledgling Fox network and ran from 1986 to 1991. It is perhaps most notable for launching the career of Johnny Depp. The series was about a group of young cops who were sent undercover to high schools to bust young crooks and, hopefully, turn their lives around. The series dealt with "Relevant" issues in a cop show format in a way that teenagers could relate to. Typical episodes would deal with hate crimes, drugs, drinking, domestic abuse, etc. Many future stars appeared on the show, including Jason Priestly and Brad Pitt. The series had a short-lived spinoff, "Booker," based around Richard Greico's character, Dennis Booker. In later seasons as the cast got older, the focus shifted from high schools to college campuses.
