Subject: Red Friday
Red Friday
Just keeping you "in the loop" so you'll know what's going on in case this takes off.
RED FRIDAYS ----- Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority". We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record-breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing. We get no liberal media coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions.
Many Americans, like you, all our friends, and me simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that. Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar will wear something red. By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworker, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.
The first thing a soldier says when asked What can we do to make things better for you?" is...We need your support and your prayers. Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example; and wear some thing red every Friday.
If you agree with the sentiment then wearing red next Friday is the only comment one need make.
Kewel. I'll do it.
BTTT!
I've been doing Red Friday at my place of business for the past six months or so. Great chance to show support for the troops!
Wear Red On Friday
bump
Sounds too May Day-ish. We need another color. The enviroweenies have green. Pink and lavender are out for obvious reasons. Orange is too Ukrainish. Dammit, I want my blue back from the demo-rats!
It was new to me.
Perhaps the poem started this sentiment but if it did it sure hasn't gone far since August 5, 2005. Maybe not many people agree. Thanks for sharing the poem.
Perhaps I should have shared the entire email but it seemed redundant. However, it did explain why red was selected so let me post that now.
IF YOU AGREE -- THEN SEND THIS ON
IF YOU COULD CARE LESS THEN HIT THE DELETE BUTTON --- IT IS YOUR CHOICE.
WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE.
THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED---- SO WEAR RED! --- MAY GOD HELP AMERICA TO BECOME ONE NATION, UNDER GOD.
HAVE A GREAT DAY
Oh, well, you didn't tell me the choice was agree or "could care less." Well, I certainly don't "could care less" now, so I guess I must agree. I think it was the allcaps that convinced me.
I don't know how to forward this so I guess I'll just bump the thread.
Seems that I have seen that poem a couple of times.
Thanks for re-posting it NnB.
Last time we held a support the troops rally, a lady motorist, pointed to her red shirt and yelled, "I support the Troops".
How great to see that the word is getting out.
Before any of you wear red on Fridays, check this link out:http://www.witherspoonsociety.org/2004/wear_red.htm
This is a page on the website of The Witherspoon Society, a hard-Left bunch of Presbyterian Church USA activists who (among other things) opposed removing the Taliban from Afghanistan and claimed 9/11 was just what we should expect for "militarizing the world." Why do they want us to wear red? Because that was the response of oppressed Norwegians and Danes under the rule of NAZI GERMANY!! What the heck are these people smoking?
The Special Forces "Wear Red Campaign" is real also, but so no one will confuse you with a hippie-retread ChurchCommie, I suggest wearing something red, white and blue to support the troops, since folks like the Witherspoons are repelled by any combination of those colors other than the flag of France.
God Bless,
[Real name redacted]P.S. These folks also find it very amusing that anyone thinks God is male. Yeah, sure, it's not like the stuff in the Bible has anything to do with Christianity, right? Folks, when God said we got to have the plants of the field, he didn't mean smoke them!
I'd guess the Tehran Chapter of the Withered Spoon Society is growing by leaps and bounds, eh?
As far as I'm concerned, our home-grown wear red campaign is in recognition of the curiously birthed red state phenomenon.
It doesn't bother me at all that we are eroding the former meaning of red by doing so. They can have pink.
And Larry, I agree with you, blue belongs to us too. We'll wear white also, if we can keep the French from using it all up.
I'm just saying, if you wear the flag, no one will doubt what you're doing. The Witherspoons should think about that--If they started a "Wear the flag" campaign, everyone who saw them would think they were conservatives.
I like Red/White/Blue. Now I just gotta find something with those colors, short of an actual flag-cloak as worn by Kidd Rock. :-)
Wearing the flag as apparel violates America's Flag Code.
UNITED STATES CODE
TITLE 36
CHAPTER 10
§176. Respect for flag
No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.
(a) The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.
(b) The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise.
(c) The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.
(d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.
(e) The flag should never be fastened, displayed, used, or stored in such a manner as to permit it to be easily torn, soiled, or damaged in any way.
(f) The flag should never be used as a covering for a ceiling.
(g) The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.
(h) The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying, or delivering anything.
(i) The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard. Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown.
(j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.
(k) The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.
I wasn't talking about wearing a flag, I'm talking about the three colors, or a pin, or a flag T-shirt. Yeesh.
No one I know who wears red on Friday would every be taken as a pot smoking of Presbyterian leftist, so I say let's take it away from them: when they wear red, they are supporting the troops!
My apologies for misunderstanding your earlier post. However, in this post you refer to a flag t-shirt. Have I misunderstood you again? What is a flag t-shirt?
According to the flag laws, the words "Flag of the United States" include any flag, or picture of any flag, in which the colors, the stars, and the stripes may be shown in any number which, WITHOUT careful examination or deliberation, the average person may believe to represent the Flag of the United States.
