The assistant to Al Qaida's new network chief has been killed in a foiled insurgency strike.
Iraqi security sources said a lieutenant of Al Qaida network chief Abu Ayoub Al Masri was found killed in a car on its way to an insurgency strike. The sources said a bomb inside the car blew up prematurely and killed the lieutenant and three other Al Qaida operatives.
Officials identified the Al Masri aide as Mansour Sulayman Mansour Khalifi Al Mashhadani. The U.S. military confirmed the killing, reported to have taken place in Yusufiyah, west of Baghdad on June 19. U.S.-led coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. William Caldwell said Al Mashhadani was one of the five leading members of the Al Qaida organization. Caldwell said Al Mashhadani was Al Qaida's spiritual leader and a close associate of Al Zarqawi. The spokesman said an Al Qaida cell leader was also killed.

So Iraq is the only country were the "No. 2" kills itself?
Somehow Amnesty International will find a way to blame it on Guantanamo.
Oooh... cue the VW "German engineering versus Arab technology" video. :-)
Sounds like it went off just the way it should have. The Virgin Express to hell.
FOFLOL. Four murdering, barbaric freaks with one bomb and they supplied the bomb. Not a bad day.
Work accident.
Hope he suffered and took a few of his fellow fanatics with him.
May each of them wear the Red Shirt.
You be bad!
Very good, and very bad!
Loved it.
Semper Fi
Ah, the premature denotation glich.
I think his name was Al Kablooie.
Perhaps the underlings are starting to see the light. He sends guys out and they never come back. He cant find a rummy to deliver a bomb? Next he'll be scrubing the bathroom
in hell. Dont know why that didnt go with first one...
That, or projectile dysfunction...
That was what I was thinking. The "management" is having to the "grunt" work. Looks like desperation to me. Are they running out of "flunkies" to do their bidding...or at least flunkies that they can trust?
< Hmmm, did he have degraded pre-1991 explosives that were no longer suited for their designed intent >
Last night Santorum anh Hoekstra (sp)were on Hannity and Colmes discussing the WMD de-classified info.
Colmes pushed and pushed about "it's really de-graded stuff", "no threat"...blah, blah, blah.
one of them, Santorum or Hoekstra offered something like "ya wanna put one on a shelf in your garage"?
It was sooo funny and made a reality point.
Yeah, it's so degraded that I could just sit it on a shelf in my home.
Yeah, right. /sarc off
Try trimming your tagline.
LOL. That comment had me rolling.
Except it sounds as if this guy was one of their "skilled" bomb makers. Maybe not skilled enough, but they don't have all that many of them to begin with. Now they have at least one less. But it sounds like he was delivering the bomb for use by some brainwashed product of the "school" in Pakistan.
