A federal courthouse was locked down Thursday and the courtrooms sealed after officials announced a man had escaped from U.S. marshals inside the building.
Officials announced over intercoms that they were searching floor-by-floor. It wasn't immediately clear if the man was armed.
Larnell Rogers, who was accused of lying to an ATF agent and scheduled to appear in court, fled after learning a warrant had been issued for his arrest, U.S. Marshals spokesman Kim Widup said. Authorities instructed court officials to lock all doors in the Everett M. Dirksen Federal Building "out of an abundance of caution," Widup said.
Rogers apparently showed up late for a hearing, prompting U.S. District Judge Samuel Der-Yeghiayan to issue a bench warrant for his arrest. Rogers fled when he learned the warrant had been issued, Widup said. He described Rogers as nonviolent.
"Once he was in the building, somebody said, 'Hey they want to see you, you're wanted now,' and then he decided to run away within the building," Widup said. That sparked the lockdown and search.
The 28-story glass-and-steel federal building is on the south side of Chicago's downtown Loop and has metal detectors and security at its entrances.

I DONT CARE!
ping
LOL. One-armed man PING
Koresh was up front with an ATF agent and look what that got him and scores of others.
"...accused of lying to an ATF agent"?
Doesn't sound terribly illegal, considering
what lies were told by:
"Bubba" Clinton, John "Nam" Kerry,
"Dingy" Harry Reid, Ted "Chappaquiddick"
Kennedy, J.D. Rockefeller, or Senator Jim
Jeffords, ((D. La).
Besides, any man on the street should have
enough sense to realize that if the Feds
can't pinpoint the whereabouts of 11 million
illegals, they sure in hell shouldn't have
much luck tracking a guy with an American
name like ROGERS!
I like you.
Ha ha ha ha hahahaaaa.
Mene
It's Dirksen's fault.
