Okay, you win, I have lied while on active duty and misrepresented myself this while undergoing training in an Army School. Would you like to hear my confession?

"Almost none"
Almost none? So why was this guys testimony omitted?

Kestrel was developed to take out armor, air to surface, later ground crew and still later surface to air. The weapon posted probably wouldn't do the trick, the A/C was above 10000. But the concept of marrying a Kestrel spike to another system is not out of the realm of possibility.
First things first, EOD. The rest of the story is buried in Foggy Bottom.
The witnesses to the streak rising from the ocean to the aircraft were ignored, compromised and marginalized. I've seen Puff the Magic Dragon at night shoot a finger of light from the dark to the dark ground. Knew which way it came from. I've seen missile launches from the ground into the air and from the air watching them come up. Not something you forget, not something you mistake.

That is correct, but remember those missiles have a hell of an launch signature. It is very similar to the back blast of a recoilless rifle.
I am seen the AC119's work out after we got rocketed a few times. It reminded me of a control line on a model airplane flying around in a big circle. All you saw was a streak.
But have you ever seen an airplane on fire on a dark night. They also make a streak. Remember on this, from the ground is over the horizon. PS: How far was I off on the desription of how the Kestrel worked since I have never seen one?
To: Rokke
OMG, are we going to go through this again? You are just about THE most stubborn guy on FR...lol. You and I have already been through this debate once before? Do you remember that one...about a year ago perhaps? Just for your benefit I will dig up some eyewitness statements about TWA 800 and post links and quotes for you sir.

It is hard to get a man to change his mind when he is right. That says something of character.

That just simply is not true. It is absolutely amazing how much disinformation exists out there regarding the TWA 800 investigation. Read the NTSB report. There is a very extensive section describing in great detail the information provided by the witnesses. In addition, a copy of every witness statement is provided as part of the investigation report package.

And nothing has changed since then. The facts remain what they are. And the facts are on my side.

You're really getting comical now. You're so sure of such a weak theory. Looking at all the evidence, the missile theory is the much stronger theory and yet you dismiss it like you're the all-knowing Karnac who knows more than everyone else at FR combined.

We'll see about that. Time will tell. I believe your analysis of the facts is incorrect.

You are in a full state of denial. This thread alone has shot down so much of the phony missile theory evidence that there is almost little left to discuss. What are you going to add that hasn't already been reduced to unsupported rumor.

I agree, it is truly comical if you think a missile did it.
To: defenderSD
"I believe your analysis of the facts is incorrect."
Prove it wrong then. In fact, don't even take it that far. Offer a theory that has enough support to make it plausible. I welcome the effort. I really do. So far, the most common response is "Well I don't know what brought TWA 800 down, but I know it wasn't what the government said it was." My response..."Did you actually read the NTSB report." Their response...< crickets chirping >

How far was I off on the description of how the Kestrel worked since I have never seen one?
Don't know. I saw stuff on the Kestrel as an antitank system developed to stop Soviet tanks if they decided to overrun Europe. Air to surface, implosion...all with a piece of steel. Impressive.
Didn't know there was a surface to surface bazooka type till I searched. Tankers beware.
Surface to Air is a different story. The steel would pass through the fuse of an aircraft like a round through a paper target. A lot would depend on the spot of the strike.
Yeah I've seen A/C on fire at night. Most made it down.
On the horizon question; sure witnesses wouldn't' see a ship off shore and wouldn't see the back blast, but they'd sure see and remember the missile signature gaining altitude.
Horizon = square root of 3/2 height in miles.

DJ, you do an absolutely wonderful job of supporting the argument that a manpad can shootdown an airliner. However, no one on this thread is disputing that. In fact, that is one of the few things that everyone on this thread can agree about. The debate we are having is whether or not TWA 800 was. If you can provide some evidence that shows TWA 800 was hit by a missile, perhaps you could provide a link to that. Otherwise, you may as well be repeatedly telling us the Sun rises in the East.
