We are winning peace in Iraq

Two American soldiers, missing since an insurgent ambush at the checkpoint they were manning last Friday, were found dead just south of Bhagdad: Their bodies were recovered Tuesday. An Iraqui General confirmed to the Associated Press that the soldiers' bodies showed signs of torture, and that the men appeared to have been killed in a particularly "barbaric" way.

This assertion appears to be backed up both by the fact that DNA tests were scheduled to positively identify the remains, and by the claim of responsibility made by the self-titled new leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, who posted on an Islamist Web site that he "carried out the verdict of the Islamic court" for the death of terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi by "slaughtering" (a word most often employed when referring to beheadings) the two soldiers.

Pfc. Kristian Menchaca, 23, and Pfc. Thomas L. Tucker, 25, were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division based at Fort Campbell, Ky.

In a written statement, Tucker's family said that their son had joined the military in part out of a desire to "do something positive." They also released to the press the text of a message he left on their answering machine less than a week before his capture, in which he reaffirmed his commitment to, and belief in, his mission.

"I'm defending my country," he said, asking his mother to be proud of him.

Interestingly silent on this and other atrocities carried out by the insurgents in Iraq are the "human rights" groups who seem to spend every day accusing the United States of torture and other war crimes.

Last month, Human Rights Watch again accused the United States of "brutalizing Muslim suspects suspects in the name of the war on terror,"

Apparently the AJC figured they were going to catch a lot of heat over their editorial cartoon so they are tossing a bone to the soldiers with this editorial which correctly points out that American examples of "torture" are nothing compared to what the Islamofascists routinely carry out.

The "American" Left is frantic to get us surrendered before it is too late. They can all stew in their own bile.

This editorial was apparently written by a soldier who served in Iraq.

Apparently the AJC figured they were going to catch a lot of heat over their editorial cartoon so they are tossing a bone. . .

. . .and I thought the 'bone' was the poll, as a complementary diffuser. . .

They are REALLY trying to cover. . .some ground here.

Abu Graib prison is never referred to Libs on TV without the adjective...'infamous'. Gitmo gets the same treatment. It turns out those three prisoner/terrorists who hanged themselves were able to do so because 'human rights' groups complained that their cells didn't have curtains...they had no privacy. So the US military put up curtains and now are being blamed for their suicides. The point is that PC behavior and common sense can't coexist, and the Bush admin. should pull the plug on trying to wage a PC war in Iraq. It gets US soldiers killed, needlessly, horribly. Forget the NYtimes and the rest of the MSM. If we wage war on their terms, we'll lose. They want dems in, they want republicans out, they want the Iraq War Vietnamized for the next fifty years. Dems like Harry Reid and Pelosi get on tv and it's like a tagteam match. The script's already written.

Liberal Democrats will be very sad to read this and will intensify their efforts against the U.S.

"the very concept of human rights was 'a Judio-Christian invention' and inadmissible in Islam...." - Sa'id Raja'i-Khorassani, permanent delegate to the UN from the Islamic Republic of Iran 1985

I'm convinced they still feel this way.
