ACLU Fights To Keep Communist Propaganda In School Library

The American Civil Liberties Union asked a federal judge to stop the Miami-Dade County school district from removing a series of children’s books from its libraries, including a volume about Cuba which depicts smiling kids in communist uniforms.

The ACLU and the Miami-Dade County Student Government Association argued in a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Miami on Wednesday that the school board should add materials with alternate viewpoints rather than remove books that could be offensive.

Last week, the board voted 6-3 to remove “Vamos a Cuba” and its English-language version, “A Visit to Cuba” from 33 schools, stating the books were inappropriate for young readers because of inaccuracies and omissions about life in the communist nation...quoted from AP.

To the ACLU it doesn’t seem to matter that the books are misleading, inaccurate, and inappropriate for this age group. It doesn’t matter to the ACLU that the book is pure propaganda. To the ACLU it is a book ban. It just so happens that the message portrayed in the book seems to go along with their founder’s beliefs.

The ACLU who usually fights for free speech regardless of who it hurts has now issued a memo to it's rank and file members not to ever say negative things about the ACLU . It's O K to trash my religion but not the ACLU .

Show the ACLU where the word God appears in the books and they will be out of the libraries faster than you can imagine!

Paste the word God in them anonymously. I realize that a story about happy Cubans will not be discussing God, except to say that God is not necessary in Cuba, as they are all self-made men.

I don't know about the drug induced hippy part, but the de facto head of the ALA (American Library Association) for about 40 years now is a former 3 year member of the ACLU board while she was at the ALA. The ALA has a President who serves for a single year (preceded by a year as President Elect and followed by a year as Past President). However, the real power behind the ALA is this single person heading for 40 years the Orwellian named "Office For Intellectual Freedom." She is Judith Krug.
