· Negotiator says group recognises right to exist · Hope for end to crippling sanctions on Palestinians

Hamas has made a major political climbdown by agreeing to sections of a document that recognise Israel's right to exist and a negotiated two-state solution, according to Palestinian leaders.

In a bitter struggle for power, Hamas is bowing to an ultimatum from the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, to endorse the document drawn up by Palestinian security prisoners in Israeli jails, or face a national referendum on the issue that could see the Islamist group stripped of power if it loses.

Hell, if I was Hamas I'd sign anything. It doesn't mean a damned thing anyway. Well it does mean one thing. More Israelis are soon to die with efforts financed by our ill-advised funding turned to evil purposes.

Something like the right to exist on a square-inch parcel under fifty fathoms.

But it would be fun to get it on paper just to make the lies more official and pi$$ off the lefties around the world.

""If it formally approves the entire document, it will represent a significant shift from its founding goal of replacing Israel with an Islamic state and its more recent position of agreeing a long-term ceasefire, over a generation or more, if a Palestinian state is formed on the occupied territories but without formally recognising the Jewish state.""

Only a hudna, and easily shorn off with claims of coercion.

But if Hamas really feared a national vote that would recognize Israel, a clever move on their part, takes that off the table, gives Western lefties space to be pro-pally again.

If this agreement includes the "right of return", then it is meaningless. Israel will never agree to this. Nor should it. Sorry, Palis: you waged war against Israel and you lost. Sorry, Arabs, you waged war against Israel four time and you lost. LOSERS do not dictate the peace. Ask the Germans and the Japanese.

Typical report from an Israeli hating journalist. When a country or a person strikes a deal, the only thing meaningful in the handshake is if the other person/country is honorable. The pali dogs are no more honorable than the Iranians or the widdle man from North Koreastan.

Hudna - A hudna [also known as a hudibiyya or khudaibiya] is a tactical cease-fire that allows Arabs to rebuild their terrorist infrastructure in order to be more effective when the "cease-fire" is called off."

Al-Takeyya - "Takeyya", means "to prevent," or guard against. The principle of Al Takeyya conveys the understanding that Muslims are permitted to lie as a preventive measure against anticipated harm to one's self or fellow Muslims. It is a known Islamic practice, that when Muslims are weak they can agree with most anything. Once they become strong, then they negate what they formerly vowed. The principle of sanctioning lying for the cause of Islam. Muslim leaders can use this loop-hole in their religion, to absolve them from any permanent commitment.

My expectation is that this story is just plain false and that Hamas has made and will make absolutely no concessions to Israel. I'd bet that this is just typical leftie eyewash.

I'm sure they meant that Israel has the right to exist -- anywhere outside of the Middle east.

If I was Israel I would drive the Palestinians and Hamas right into the sea were they belong. Take a page from the Old Testament on how to fight a war.
