I'll looking at their final couple of sentences. Somehow I can believe a defense official saying this, as it appears the Bush administration still doesn't want to change its current story regarding the absence of such weapons:

Offering the official administration response to FOX News, a senior Defense Department official pointed out that the chemical weapons were not in useable conditions.

"This does not reflect a capacity that was built up after 1991," the official said, adding the munitions "are not the WMDs this country and the rest of the world believed Iraq had, and not the WMDs for which this country went to war."

I'll go to the Fox News site to see if I can get confirmation of the North Korean statement.

And here is the Fox News statement; it is identical to the North Korean text, but has additional information:

Report: Hundreds of WMDs Found in Iraq

My conclusion after reading the Defense Department statement is that this story is not going anywhere; the Defense spokesman essentially pulled the rug out from whatever traction the story had. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot... Grrrr.
