Fundamentalist Christians insist on a literal interpretation of the Book of Genesis in the Bible, in which God made the world in seven days, culminating in the creation of the first two humans, Adam and Eve.A variation of this is called "intelligent design" which acknowledges evolution but claims that genetic mutations are guided by God's hand rather than by Charles Darwin's process of natural selection.
If these morons can't (or won't) even report accurately what Genesis says, or what intelligent design is, why should anyone take anyone take any of their other metaphysical sanctimony seriously?
Cordially,
The "with a little bit of luck and long periods of time" crew are at it again trying to force people to accept theory as fact and luck as a scientific pathway.
Still waiting on those human transistional fossils...
Actually, it empowers people to "fill the earth and subdue it." Sounds like this bunch of scientists is a shade green.
Then I trust such statements as "Knowledge of the natural world in which they live empowers people to meet human needs and protect the planet" have no business coming from the mouths who purport to be wholly engaged in scientific pursuits. Which is it?
I can't tell if this is from the "staff" or from the "declaration." It's about a third of the way down, no quotes.
It seems to come out of nowhere, linking ages before to evolution of that follow-on life.
It sounds like an assumption of abiogenesis....do you all agree?
Anybody write a letter to these clowns asking for evidence of this "scientific" just so story?
My new twin granddaughters, born just nine hours ago.
There is more to life, Mssrs. Darwin and Dawkins, than your cramped and bigoted faith claims can begin to refute or deny. Though you be willfully deaf and blind, the greater and best part of life looks through your benighted souls and sings powerfully and wonderfully with the voice of an angel.
People who teach their children silly creation myths in place of science should be charged with child abuse.
"Knowledge of the natural world in which they live empowers people to meet human needs and protect the planet."
Non-sequitor.
Evolution has nothing to do with protecting the environment.
I am pretty much on the middle on this issue, but this was pretty weak.
If they are so sure of themselves, why not openly attack?
They have to hide behind their burkhas???
theories about the origins and evolution of life on Earth are being concealed, denied or confused with theories not testable by science," the declaration said.
Hey guys, let me know who wins after you hash all this stuff out.
Yes, like those bona fide demonstrations, shown in the lab, of one species changing into another. Oh, wait...never mind. ;-)
