You had Democratic presidential candidates out there at this thing. You had all kinds of media. This was one of the biggest nonevents in terms of influence and making things actually happen. But yet all these powerful bigwigs in the Democratic Party, the Drive-By Media, went out there, as though this was the first time something like this has happened. You know, and I kept thinking, the Freepers have been around doing this for a decade or more, longer than that, and have never gotten anything other than ridicule from the Drive-By Media, and these people at this left-wing blog convention are genuine lunatics, genuine kooks who are being granted the presumption of sanity, substance and size simply because they're a bunch of libs.

Great post and so true, it's very frustrating. My thoughts lean towards "Democrats are not worth preserving as a party". We are going to destroy them politically in November as a result of their treason, and they can't even see what's coming.
Harsher language I'll save for later.
Perhaps you have a point. Vietnam did provide them with the formula they are attempting to use for Iraq todat.
Flip, so correct you are, my friend.
Vietnam was the "living room war", however, the jihadists started the war on terror by "attacking the hive." .
The threat is far more personalized; and, this is why America-hating leftists (including many within the dominant media, Democrats in elected office, and government school teachers) do their utmost to minimize the threat perception.
Fast forward to today's revelation about psuedo-al Queda in Florida, and by golly, the average American's perception of terrorist risk rides a spike upward.
Rather than recognizing a palpable threat to our internal security and moving into a cooperative and serious anti-terror venture, predictably the Dems will quickly issue a series of BLAMES, and the media will soon relegate this most newsworthy issue to the back pages.

I always turn it around on my commie lib friends and blame them for the present condition that they are bemoaning. I blame them for not allowing Clinton to be removed from office, and making AlGor president. Then Algor could have run in 2000 and won as the incumbent and been reelected in 2004 since Clinton removal from office would have been in 1999. Therefore, it is the fault of the democRATS themselves for what they perceive as the intolerable condition of the nation. You should see the smoke come pouring out of their ears at that one.....LOL
It better never happen that way again. I will never forget how those filthy sob's treated the vets.
Today I was driving home from work and a couple of things started to crystalize. The first had to do with the story (first posted here at FR) that the NY Times had-in the aftermath of 9/11-published an editorial calling for exactly the type of program that they exposed in their infamous story earlier this week. There is just no way to spin that-though some of my idiot lefty coworkers tried. The only thing you can say is that there is nothing that they will not do if they think they can hurt the President and they see the war as merely a convenient bludgeon for doing just that.
The second was this excellent editorial from the Boston Herald. It very effectively makes the case that far too many of our countrymen think that the war is just another choice, not substantially different from any other choice you might make, and that betraying the war effort is another-and equally valid-choice, so long as they can advance their agenda.
But we know better. There are many reasons for pursuing the war effort as we have done, I don't have to repeat them here. I have handled the bodies of GIs who died trying to bring success to our efforts-the EOD tech whose face was half gone and who suffered amputations to all four limbs-I'm not ashamed to say that when we rolled his body over to put him on the litter that I was afraid, not for my own safety, but that I would throw up and dishonor him. Or I could tell you about the wounded solder-the only survivor from his truck after an IED blast-who asked the doctor how bad his burns were because he wanted to get married someday and he was worried that no woman would ever want him.
I would tell you about them because they deserve better than what the cynical NY Times and the rest of those who fail to understand the nature of warfare are trying to give them. I don't know what I can do about their treachery yet, but I do know that I won't stand for it. I'll probably end up getting fired from my job (my civilian alter ego is a Community College instructor) and I've already told one long-time friend to go to hell because of his moonbattery, but those guys deserve better.
I guess I'll end this rant now and go to bed, but I had to get that off my chest.
