Now that would be something wouldn`t it? How would Bush announce that? "He served his country well in the DOJ before he lost his mind..."

Laura Ingraham had a clip from C-span's coverage of the trial. The judge was blasting one of Saddam's American lawyers for showboating. The exchange was something like (paraphrased) "we all know you are here just to make a name for yourself". There was even more with the judge making sure that the translator got translations right. It was hilarious.

It looks like Saddam's getting desperate. He probably figures that, by killing off his lesser lawyers and blaming it on the new government, he'll be able to delay his trial and escape justice.

What we have here from the terrorists is,
'a failure to communicate'

"What better excuse? How about, "Your honor, we need a delay....all of my lawyers were killed."
How about: "Your Honor, we need a delay. All of our clients seem to have assumed room temperature"?

He is part of Saddam's advance team - went on ahead to hell to make sure things are ready for his client.

No, it isn't the first time, though it's rare enough to be an event to remember.
It's even more interesting that when American soldiers are tortured and murdered, Iraqi civilians are beheaded or a busload of kids are dragged out and executed (except for three Sunnis) they were killed by "insurgents". When one of Saddam's camp dies, it was "terrorists".

If they need to delay, what better excuse than "Your honor, we need a delay....one of my lawyers was killed."Good point.

That's what I was trying to figure out....
Did they expect it to go something like this?
Lawyer: Hello?
AFP: Are you dead?
Lawyer: Yep.
AFP: Okey dokey. Thanks!
Lawyer: No problem.
