BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Mayor John M. Fabrizi admitted Tuesday he had abused cocaine while in office and said he wanted to apologize "to all the people of the city" but had no plans to resign.
The admission followed the inadvertent release of an FBI document in which an alleged drug dealer claimed an associate had a videotape of the mayor using cocaine.
In a tearful speech to about 200 city employees and residents in City Council chambers Tuesday, Fabrizi said he had not used drugs in 18 months and had sought help for a drug addiction that he had hoped to handle privately.
"I thought that these were personal, private matters to me and my family, that I could deal with these issues with my family and myself," Fabrizi said. "I now recognize my actions affected many others, and I want to apologize to my family, my friends, and all of the people of the city of Bridgeport for my actions, my past actions."
Fabrizi, a Democrat who took office after former Mayor Joseph Ganim was convicted of corruption in 2003, said he hopes to move forward and continue running Connecticut's largest city.

Democrat, or Republican? I guess I don't need to ask because if this Mayor were a Republican it would be in the headline.
To: Koblenz
They should tear Bridgeport down and start all over with a new population.

You should see him at the Bridgeport Bluefish games.... he has a special police task force that whisks his inebriated carcass out of the stadium at the completion of the games.
The Connecticut Post crucified (R)Roland as Governor..... and they're sure working over time to run Screen for (D)Fabrizi.

All that's missing is this:
"MY TRUTH IS THAT I AM A GAY AMERICAN."
And then he could say that it's the evil persecutions of Republicans that drove him to drugs..... blah blah blah.
If I could imagine for a moment that he is truly contrite, in treatment, and determined to reform his lying life I would be highly sympathetic. However, knowing the liberal demogogic urban milieu that he crawled out of, I am confident that he is only sorry that he's been caught and THAT is what is embarrassing him - the 'political' problem it has created for his career.
At least as an admitted cocaine user he is a great example to the young people of his city, of Connecticut, and of the nation.

You know, from everything I can see, Connecticut was a pretty nice place when it was inhabited primarily by old-fashioned "Connecticut Yankees" -- we could do with a whole lot more of them and a whole lot fewer of the illegals ... section 8 and welfare .... etc. that we have in Connecticut's big cities and a few less union-style and liberal Democrats, most of who are anything but the descendents of traditional "Connecticut Yankees".

Stick to the townships of 20,000 and less....and they're chock full of Conservative old school Yankees. My own hometown here (pop 5500) is a prime example. We're just severely outnumbered by the pin headed libs in the big sanctuary cities here like Bridgeport, Danbury, Hartford and New Haven, unfortunately.
Plenty of "regular" folks in the small towns..... we just had a Fireman's parade a week ago and I'll bet 9/10ths of the town showed up for it. It reminded me of my youth.

Moving on from child molestation? That was Waterbury. This is Bridgeport.
Connecticut: giving New Jersey a run for its money. We have the child molesting and kickbacks. New Jersey responds with "I'm a Gay American." Now we respond with this Cocaine use. Top that New Jersey!

Is it not typical to see all the lackey city workers telling us how brave it was for him to admit his MISTAKE No one asked where he was last month before the FBI affidavit was filed exposing this whole thing
