Al-Qaeda in Iraq announces having executed the two American soldiers
PARIS - Al Qaeda in Iraq has announced having executed the two American soldiers whose bodies were found south of Baghdad, "by slitting their throats", in a communiqué online Tuesday on the Internet.
"We announce the good news, from the battlefield, to the Islamic nation (...). The two Crusaders taken hostage have been executed by slitting their throats", declares the official statement put on an Islamic site and signed by the media department of the Mujahideen Shura Council, an alliance of eight jihadist groups dominated by the Iraqi branch of Al Qaeda.
The communiqué, whose authenticity hasn't been established, pays homage to Emir Abu Hamza Al-Muhajer (new chief of the Iraqi branch of Al Qaeda) for having applied the decision of the tribunal for sharia" concerning the two American soldiers.
