It's his despicable record as a civilian traitor that is important. He was not a civilian when he went to Paris to "negotiate" a "peace treaty" aka a surrender, with the enemy. He was a 27 y/o punk who had no official standing or right to negotiate anything with the enemy, on behalf of the USA.

Fair enough. What I'm saying is that even if his purple hearts had been Medals of Honor, and that he had actually deserved them. and that his military record had been without blemish, even so what he has done since his "honorable" discharge is enough to damn him, IMO.
