The particularity of the cities is the lack of cars. Everyone is walking, sometimes they take packed public transportatins made of tramways, trolleys and even 2 storie buses. The bicycles are rare and expensive.
The pedestrian zebra is original.

Is the traffic control at this intersection really needed?

It looks like a communist town that's had a nuclear accident and everyone has had to evacuate.

Did you catch any of the threads on the big train station fire last year? A train carrying hazardous cargo blew up in a crowded station. Most of the people at the station survived, however, a bunch of them died when they rushed back into the flames to rescue the pictures of Kim.

Dawn of the Dead!! I thought the same thing like some horrible disease had killed everyone and the only thing was left was the buildings.

Everytime I see pictures of North Korea, I am always amazed (but not surprised) at how everything looks the same. It's the same bleak concrete emptiness everywhere. Completely void of life and if you find life, people with drab clothes and vacant expressions. The people all look the same with the same bleak emptiness and drab worker Soviet style worker clothes. It's almost like this place has no soul.

I mean, it's like a fleet attacking an elephant."

There has to be a typo there by somebody - even Ted T. is not that stoopid.

Well, to be honest, I could snap a picture standing in the middle of Constitution Avenue between the Treasury Dept building and the US Capitol at 6 AM Sunday and see the same desolation.

They shut off the electricity to the entire country at night. There are very few cars and the ones that exist there is very little petrol for private use.

I love it when folks who have never seen communism up close and personal try to put the best light on it.

Oh, I had forgotten about that, but you are right! Another example of the North Korean people's total mental collapse.

The more I think about it, the more I think we should just bomb the darn place. But then, they are a Chinese ally and that would probably cause even bigger problems.

I'm not sure that the Chinese would get all that worked up over losing the nutty neighbors.

Back in 1969 I took the US Army duty train from West Berlin through East Germany to the west. Right after we crossed into East Germany, I looked out and saw a man and wife plowing a field. The wife was pulling the plow, hooked up to it like a mule!

I have never forgotten it. Whenever Ihear people talk about the wonders of socialist countries, I always think of that woman pulling the plow.

I think it was 'flea attacking an elephant,' though Ted T. says plenty of dumb stuff.
