Churchill must go (Ward Churchill)
THE PUEBLO CHIEFTAIN ^ | June 18, 2006

Posted on 06/18/2006 6:53:31 PM PDT by AmericanMade1776

WARD CHURCHILL, the ethnic studies professor notorious for defaming victims of the 9/11 attacks on America, should be fired by the University of Colorado for gross academic misconduct.

That's the recommendation of CU's research misconduct committee - and we heartily concur. The committee agreed with an earlier investigative panel that Mr. Churchill intentionally falsified his research, plagiarized other people's work and was ghostwriter of articles he later cited as "outside" sources.

Now that two academic peer groups have come to essentially the same conclusion, a final recommendation will be forwarded by the provost and a dean to interim CU-Boulder Chancellor Phil DiStefano.

Mr. Churchill exposed himself to close scrutiny by calling those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks "little Eichmanns," a slur comparing them to Adolf Eichmann, a mastermind of Nazi Germany's campaign of genocide in World War II.

In typical little-boy mode, Mr. Churchill reacted to the latest findings with another of his temper tantrums: "Baloney. That's my one-word response." Of course, he went on a tirade, running at the mouth and demonstrating that he seems incapable of the truth, even about the number of words he uses.

"We are drawn to the irresistible conclusion that Professor Churchill is unable, or at least unwilling, to acknowledge legitimate critiques," found CU's Standing Committee on Research Misconduct. "If he is unwilling to acknowledge the critiques, we are pessimistic that he is likely to change his behavior."

In other words, Mr. Churchill is an incorrigible child. So what if he threatens to sue at each and every reversal? CU should follow through and fire the man. It's the intellectually right and honest thing to do.

I wonder if reductions in donations to the school from alumni is a factor in his future employment prospects.

Only in academia could so many words be used to say one simple thing: "the guy's a lying, cheating, fraud; fire his ass"

Possibly, or maybe it was all the giggles about the University of Colorado having a fake Indian on faculty, who forged art and articles

We have to forgive him. Look at what the white man has stolen from him and other Indians and the opression that he and his ancestors have lived under for centuries.

Oh, that's right. He's not a real Indian. He lied about that too.

That's right; we should not forget the deprivations visited on the pseudo Indian. In their own way, the fake Indian has suffered much more than the real Indian. And to make matters worse, people do not respect the fake Indian. We need to have more compassion for Churchill.

Where is the outrage on this A-hole?? No, No, lets all rag on Ann Coulter and her comments. Where are the letters from democratic senators demanding an apology for his statements.
If he gets turned out, their's always Berkley I guess.

In other words, Mr. Churchill is an incorrigible child.

That pretty much sums up Churchill in a couple words.

ZOT

Future academic prospects yes but he will have no shortage of job offers if CU does the right thing.

I know better than to count on that, but it is looking possible.

Another section of the article:

Even though the 9/11 slander was set aside as an expression of constitutionally protected speech, the subsequent inquiry revealed that Mr. Churchill has been an academic fraud for years.

This kind of thing doesn't happen very often when a lefty is exposed as an academic fraud. Usually the faculty and local press form a protective cocoon around one of their own until the issue blows over.

I wonder why they aren't doing it for Ward? Could it be because he faked being an Indian to take advantage of affirmative action? Maybe that's an unforgivable offense...?

SNIP*

Churchill also said a lawsuit against CU is “obviously an option,” should Boulder Chancellor Phil DiStefano act on the Standing Committee on Research Misconduct's (SCRM) recommendation, released Tuesday, to fire him for what the committee described as “repeated and deliberate” research infractions.

He also said the committee lacked the academic background to effectively evaluate his research, noting that it is “difficult to apprehend error in reports because you need to be familiar with the subject matter” and referencing a paragraph on page 18 of the SCRM's report which acknowledges this challenge.

“There's not a single person involved in any step of this process who has the least idea about my subject material,” said Churchill, who has published on the topic of American Indian history and identity. “Being an expert in the literature of Cervantes does not qualify you to be able to access that.”

Churchill said that due to both the “institutional bias” and insufficient background of committee members, he saw the review as CU's attempt “to put an air of legitimacy to an utterly illegitimate process.”

CU spokesman Barrie Hartman would not address Churchill's specific criticisms, saying only that every challenge Churchill offered was “absurd.”

“We are not going to get into a shouting match with him,” said Hartman. “We stand by the superb quality of both the investigative report and the Standing Committee recommendation.”

Interim Provost Susan Avery and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences Todd Gleeson are reviewing SCRM's recommendation. Each will conference separately with Chancellor Phil DiStefano, who will then issue a decision regarding Churchill's final punishment.

Churchill said he would come up with “an appropriate response” at that time.

“The nature of any such (lawsuit) would be contingent of any position taken by the institution, and I'm in no position to speculate on that,” said Churchill.

“The ball's in their court,” Churchill added.

Hartman maintained that “the reports speak for themselves.”

“We will comment,” said Hartman, “when and if Mr. Churchill files a suit.”

The Information Age makes it difficult for the MSM and liberal groups to cover up information. Especially when native American groups are actively opposed to allowing Churchill to use their special interest as a cloak and shield.

If Churchill had been black, the whole issue would've played out differently.

to have Ward Churchill as an ethnic studies professor is the same as this current Iranian nutjob president as a Holocast expert.

Alas, you're correct. If he's dismissed, Churchill and the Drive-by Media will make it into a circus. When the dust settles he'll be edgy far-left and famous to boot. Academia will snap him up in a New York minute.
