From a transcript of the June 14 edition of NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, on which New York Times bestselling author Ann Coulter appeared with comedian George Carlin:

COULTER: I understand you had an Ann Coulter joke last night, Jay.
LENO: Oh, I have a bunch of Ann Coulter jokes all the time.
COULTER: That I was worried about Dorothy's house falling on me.
LENO: I think that was the joke, yeah. And then, I had the -- the other joke was I liked you fighting Sigourney Weaver in the Alien. I think that was the other movie I did.

COULTER: Well, see, in my perspective I'm Dorothy --
LENO: Really?
COULTER: -- and I've just dropped my house on the mainstream media!

Negligent actions by controversial conservative ANN COULTER may have contributed to the death of
a Wiccan American yesterday, just outside Oz. The victim, known only as the "Wicked Witch of the
Mainstream Media," was crushed beneath a house which Ms. Coulter claimed to have intentionally
"dropped on her." Coulter seen here "celebrating" that death, at a post-taping party in Burbank.

O.K., O.K. -- I will admit it:

I used an intentionally misleading thread title to entice you into reading this "after action" FReep report -- with MULTIPLE (all new!) PHOTOs of Ann Coulter! ;o)

After all the Mainstream Media headlines about Ann wanting to murder:

- Vietnam veteran (turned traitor) John Murtha
- Supreme Court "Justice-for-Life" (apparently) John Paul Stevens, and
- reporters and editors at the treasonous ("fake, but accurate") New York Times,

I thought that I might do the same! ;o)

As you may have heard, a handful of southern California FReepers (and OUR Friends) joined Ann (and some of her OTHER friends) to watch the taping of her EXTRAORDINARY interview with Jay Leno on the "Tonight Show" last week.

In case you missed it, Ann ROCKED!

After the taping, we were joined by even MORE friends of Ann at a post-taping party nearby -- as reported in Cinnamon Girl’s excellent "after action" thread, posted immediately after the party, before we had all of the MARVELOUS images that are the subject of THIS thread:

As you can see, Ann didn’t even get a chance to take her coat off before she was MOBBED with requests for autographs -– all under the watchful eyes of her Marine Corps escort. :o)

Note: These Marines (and Navy corpsman) were at this party in an "unofficial" capacity, as "friends of Ann," and do not necessarily endorse all of Ann’s opinions. But I would not recommend making any sudden, threatening movements towards her in their presence. ;o)

Fortunately, the local moonbats were CLUELESS about Ann’s visit, so we had NO trouble with disruptors – in the studio audience during the taping, or at the post-taping party.

Our biggest problem was that there were too many "FRIENDS of Ann" who wanted to join in the festivities!

LENO: Now, do you travel, like, with a bodyguard now?
COULTER: Well, I travel with conservative men. They're -- they're pretty fearsome. Unlike the liberals you showed the last time I was on when I spoke on a college campus. We got the nuanced liberals throwing food, and they missed.
Yeah, unlike them, I think my male friends can take 'em.

While ANN may no longer see the need for a bodyguard, at least at this kind of "Ann-friendly" event, many of her FRIENDS are still apprehensive, including the owner of a local security company, who DONATED two of his guys, just in case – to watch the door.

It is hard to tell who was having more fun: Ann, or the security guards. :o)

Leno's show isn't 1/10th of the quality of the Carson era. Proof in point - bringing Coulter in. Why not Nancy Reagan or Laura Bush again? br> or Governor Blanco (Democrat) who is now voting against abortion? Why bring that bore Coulter on? Just more bogus books to sell.<

In 2000 I attended a FR pro-Bush rally in West LA during the Florida election fiasco. It was great fun plus a chance to turn the frustration we all felt when Gore tried to steal the election into a positive show of support for our soon-to-be- President. :)

Host Jay Leno seemed to think it was dangerous to put Ann on the same stage as George Carlin, but she treated him with respect, so he was hardly in a position to launch a partisan attack. The audience was apparently heavy with Coulter fans, because all of the anti-Bush jokes in Leno's monologue fell flat.

Ann expressed surprise that liberals had become unhinged by her attack on activist 9/11 widows but didn't at all seem to mind being called "godless". Leno felt that Ann's message was being obscured by the way the message was delivered. (He particularly noted Ann's use of the word "broads".) Ann maintained that the attention focused on this small part of her book was the death knell for grief politics.

She has a point. Click around on the news sites for a while. Analysts are arguing that Ann's attack is simply a PR gimmick or that she's being too harsh.

Nobody, however, is arguing that Ann is fundamentally wrong.
