Fitzgerald: Please leave (Fitzmas time is here again)
Chicago Sun-Times Letters to the Editor ^ | June 18, 2006 | Elaine Gough

Posted on 06/18/2006 8:09:10 AM PDT by Chi-townChief

It seems Patrick Fitzgerald has gotten so interested in sinking Illinois in worthless slime and insinuation that he doesn't have time to do what he should be doing in Washington. He'd rather investigate Mayor Daley and Gov. Blagojevich, who have raised Chicago and the State of Illinois from the terror of years and years of Republican reign.

Mayor Daley has made Chicago a real gem on the lake. It's clean, beautiful and the safest it's been since his father was mayor. For years the city looked filthy and old. People were afraid to go downtown after dark. The Loop was taken over by the gangs. Now you can walk in Grant Park all the way to Millennium Park and feel safe and enjoy the beauty our city has become. The governor was left with a $500 billion deficit, thanks to that crook, George Ryan. He's done more for the state than 27 years of Republicans never cared to think of doing.

So, Mr. Fitzgerald, go to Washington, D.C., where you are needed, and leave Illinois alone. We're doing just fine!

Elaine Gough, Westchester

If we're talking about the same woman, judging from the comments posted at the bottom of this page, I'd say she's been having a bad few years :)

First off this kid is clueless. I worked in the Loop all thru the 90s at all hours. One of the few places there wasn't a Gang problem. Not saying a Banger would never go to the Loop, but nothing in numbers.

Once it got dark and the office buildings emptied, the homeless took over.

And to think that Chicago has it's act together is a joke. ITS NOT CLEAN. Yeah, Mag Mile is nice. But all over the Northside, even Yuppieville, there is far too much graffiti. And it still has a serious Gang problem.

Just as happy as when his father was mayor. How many republicans were in between the two saviors? Lots of lies of omission in this little hit piece.

...the terror of years and years of Republican reign.

Democrats have been "in charge" of Chicago for 50 plus years. What am I missing?

The stat site you generously provided shows no forcible rapes. I believe that's because the crime is now classified as aggravated sexual assault, or so I was told by an assistant states' attorney when I served on a Crook County grand jury years ago.

Or maybe slackbone, if there were such a word. Looks like a career student waiting for his next government grant.

You have to forgive Elaine Gough - of Westchester, IL. - her DEMENTIA interferes with reality.
The old bag is 72 and husband Kenneth is 75.

Thank you, Al Gore,
This Internet thingy of yours is wonderful and the stuff one can find is amaaaaaazing :-)
