In what police described as a random attack, Paul Schrum, a 62-year-old medical supplies salesman from Pikesville, was shot dead while watching a movie at Loews Valley Center 9 in Owings Mills. About 20 minutes into the film, police said, the gunman stood, told everyone to get on the floor and fired four shots.

The suspect is a 24-year-old man, a 2000 graduate of Mount Hebron High School in Howard County and a 2005 graduate of Loyola College, where he majored in biology. Mujtaba Rabbani Jabbar's family home is a house valued at more than $1 million in one of Baltimore County's most affluent neighborhoods.
According to charging documents, Jabbar told police that he had planned to kill someone for several months.
He has been charged with first-degree murder. He was being held without bail at the county detention center. A search of court records showed nothing more than traffic violations for Jabbar.
Jabbar's address is in Anton North, one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Baltimore County, with million-dollar mansions hidden by trees and at the end of long, twisting driveways.

This is Maryland -- where virtually nobody can get a carry permit to protect himself or anyone else from such a killer. Maryland wants to confiscate all guns (see, Joseph Curran, former Attorney General and father-in-law of RAT Gubernatorial candidate Martin O'Malley). Maryland will not protecty its citizens but will not allow them to protect themselves.

Please, please point to anywhere in my postings where I mentioned anything like this lousy attempt at misdirection. You can't. Their motives were plain:
1) Shoot as many people as it takes to extort $10 million from the authorities.
2) Use that money in a bizzare plan to set up a nation of "pure blacks."
3) Kill Muhammad's ex-wife in the process of killing other innocents. This would give him sole custody and deflect suspicion away from him, especially since the police were looking for a white man.
The whole Islamic angle came later, much later after his capture. It was convenient and more fitting with the times. He was more willing to have people view him as an Islamic holy warrior, rather than the low-life conniving, low-rent criminal he actually was.

If you think being called ignorant (or misinformed) is putting you down, that was not my intent. I am trying to explain to you the entire matter. Geography has a lot to do with it. I had more access to the details since there was wall to wall coverage and it happened in my backyard. You are just getting the broad picture through your sources. I'd be more inclined to think you'd have more details than I would on something that happened in your hometown. Aboriginal recruitment by al Qaeda has as much to do with the DC snipings as Islamic Holy War had to do with Muhammad's true motives: Absolutely nothing.
Maybe when it happens to an American Idol contender.

I live in the Balto. suburbs.
Anton North, where the shooter is said to have lived, is in a primarily Jewish area. This is an affluent, newish development where most would have interior decorators. No wonder the neighbors noticed the ironing board in the window.
The movie theatre is in the same basic neighborhood, along the same corridor, and still predominantly Jewish.
It would have been much harder to choose a NON-Jew at random in this location.
Of course no mention in the article of the mosque at which they worshiped.
I recall a couple of Pakastanis opened up on traffic waiting to enter CIA headquarters using automatic weapons several years ago. Before 9/11.
Moderate muslim, one who has run out of ammunition.
