I think Germans are still heroic in spite of a black eye. Every nation has it's own shameful history. America had centuries of slavery (and we're still paying for that sin).

God must have had something very special planned for both Poland and Germany. And now I know it's true. Two great Popes bless the world. The devil didn't know who these young men were because the devil can't see such greatness. So, Satan attacked the whole continent instead and tried to kill entire nations to stop the work of a handful of spiritual super heroes. Not just two men, but men and women spiritually courageous to lead a world of souls back to Jesus by example of His Divine Mercy.

There is no heroism in cowardice, pandering, caving into Islamic internal pressures, paying ransom, riding in the shadows of others and not paying ones fair share of the cost in securing collective interests and defending our "way of life".

Even in the Cold War the Germans were a weak link. While on paper they were the most powerful NATO member besides the US, they were questionable in their dedication to the cause of their own defense.

Today with the Cold War over, they see no need to engage threats like Libya, Iran, or North Korea. They want to suck on the teat of modern Western free society with all it's economic advantages, freedoms and liberties, but as in the Cold War and Vietnam they sit back and do nothing except criticize those taking action against these threats. Where were the Germans in the Cold War? Were they in Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, Nicaragua, Grenada, Cuba, Afghanistan, Angola.....? All battlefields in the Cold War. No they were on the barricades protesting the stationing of the Pershing and Lance missiles. Have things really changed that much?

In WWII Germany was Unmoral.

Post WWII Germany became Amoral.

Today they have become a nihilist society. That's all. They believe in nothing. They don't really even believe in Democracy. They lost their faith in God. They have become a society void or morals, a permissive hedonistic society that defines itself through opposition to the USA. What does Germany represent today?

The reason why the Germans are economically on their ass and will remain there, is because they have become this socialist nihilist society. I have said all this before - But German politics today is defined by parties like the DKP, Greens and SPD. You have people like Gregor Giesy, Lafontain, Schroeder, Tritin, and Joschka Fischer at the reins. Even today, with the CDU in power not much has changed, nor will it. The people themselves have embraced this thought. All remedy's proposed by the government to fix the problem become part of the problem because they are ALL nothing more than more state, more taxes, more rules. The whole concept of setting the economy free, which resulted in the Wirtschaftswunder in the 50's has become alien to this people! Instead of looking at models of success and seeing how the private sector succeeds and laying emphasis there, the Germans pour more into state consortium's such as EADS in the hope to create a foothold in an aerospace sector. And today we have EADS with it's successful A380, Jaeger 90 fighter, Tiger, NH90, Hekules, projects that ALL are either behind schedule, failing in their their defined goals or substantially over cost.

The Germans have been a socialist thinking people for a long time. Amassing power into the hands of few, centralizing it and standardizing everything is just the way they think. They are incapable of seeing strength and stability in "decentralization". As with EADS (A good example) they amass and centralize everything. But in 1989, the so well celebrated unification of Germany was also it's demise. Since then, every national election has been determined by the former DDR and they despite stating that they hate socialism embrace it whole heartedly. They may say they dislike Honiker, but they believe in the ideology that was imprinted into their heads in the heavily state indoctrinated schools, TV etc. There is a reasons why the German abortion law was liberalized shortly after unification. Germany had a massive leftward push after 1989. It has affected the nation culturally, politically and economically. It has affected US/German relations, their own internal policies on how to stimulate their economy and every other aspect. Germany was liberal before 1989, but post unification has become a true "socialist" state.

Many new Germans see the US in an adversarial way. Despite our geopolitical interests being completely in-line, their economic dependence on us, their close security ties to us, many identify themselves closely to the East, not West. The US is Germany's second most important export nation not counting the DoD in Germany. Yet they "wish" our economy would collapse. You have to understand, the NVA, Jung Pioneers and other organizations laid great emphasis on "political" indoctrination. In the US military if you attend political functions in uniform will will face disciplinary action, regardless of the party you're advertising for. In the Jung Pioneers, political indoctrination of young and gullible youth was part of the curricula. If you didn't support the "party line" you were not climbing in the NVA. There is a reason why the Germans didn't take over into their Bundeswher any senior officers from the NVA.

Germany is today a nation that shares all our geopolitical goals. However, they are morally depleted, genetically depleted, and they simply lack the courage to do anything. They are in reality only marginally better than in WWII. You see, in WWII most played along and knew what was going on as these Jews were disappearing. They just silently went along with it. Today, as Pim Fortyn, Van Gogh are murdered, as London, Madrid detonate and and and, they just sit there silently. They lack the resolve to take action. If you see a rape and are able bodied and try not to stop but just ignore it and walk by, are you innocent? The only ones they are willing to bad mouth are nations like the US. They know we won't bomb them like the Islamists might if irritated. With the real threats out there, they practice "self censure". They will self censure their Karnival, even their own language not to offend those who see them as infidels, but they will rip their mouth open to an American. You see, that American soldier falls under the UCMJ and probably won't cause to much trouble if you smear "Kein Blut fuer Oel" on some wall.

As I said before, I'm of German heritage, speak the language and grew up there practically. It's not hate I have for Germany, although some will try to twist it that way in order to discredit my words. No, rather it's disappointment. For the "outside observer" who occasionally still goes back and fourth today the changes in culture, economic policy, security matters is apparent as light as day. The Germany I grew up in is dead. It was not killed by the ugly American like me. It was killed by the Germans. It was killed by the post war generation that grew up with a silver spoon in their mouth taking their wealth and security as granted like Joschka Fischer! A people who are completely disconnected from reality when it comes to the threats out there. A society that did NOT have to fight for its freedom and was NOT oppressed appreciates freedom differently. Look at Poland or the US or Australia. Look at Poland's fear or Russia and the Germans apathy in regards to this nation which is backing a psuedo dictator in Belarus, meddles in the Ukraine, is building the reactor in Iran and is deliving all kinds of missiles there today. Germany had it's freedom and its post WWII republic handed to them on a silver platter. That is why they laugh about Americans and their gun rights, or our national Guard which is under state control, not Washington. They laugh at all those different laws in each different state and why the Police in one state is not tied into the Police even in the adjacent state. The difference is in the US, the Conservative has a strong decentralized view of how the government should be run, he is prostate rights and ultimately what it boils down to is preserving the Republic. Does society that embarces many of the same virtues as the NAZI's or the Communist Party did in the DDR and had it's freedom handed to it really appreciate it?

So what can you expect the Germans to do? At best, not much. At worst, they may get in our way as Schroeder did to take a cheap shot which successfully helped him in his 2002 election bid. They will remain a "freeloader" A nation that wants to benefit and profit from the actions in East Timor, but do little. A nation that wants trade with Japan and South Korea, but does not get involved reference an impending missile crisis. A nation that does not do much about Pirates in the Pacific, or in the fight against drugs in Columbia despite Columbian Cocaine being the predominate source in Germany. Only if directly affected themselves will they reluctant do anything; example - Balkans. Only after 250,000 refugees sit in Germany do they suddenly have an epiphany.

The German of course can not accept such a self image or national image. So his defense is to attack the legitimacy of the economic, political and military efforts to deal with these threats. If it's wrong then it was OK to do nothing, right? They will state that their history prevents them, or in the past they argued it was their Constitution. Which simply was a bogus argument. They actually blame the US for their reluctance to do anything! The US which already in the Cold War was prodding them along and trying to get them to do more, basically built their Bundeswehr in the early 50s, that now is the nation they blame for their inaction. In the end it all boils down to one thing - if you really confront them with their ignorance as with nuclear deterrence in the Cold War, or today the GWOT they lack any real substance in their defense and have to resort to pure polemics to justify their position since the resulting self portrait is not one they can easily swallow. It's not hate. But today the Germans are lost. They are adrift and literally don't even know who they friends and enemies are. They are guided by strong ideological "beliefs" that are socialist and anti-religion (Which the socialist thinker normally is).Their policies are a reflection of their society and they are a society in decline because of this. Their language is loosing in international importance, their population is shrinking, their economy is stagnate, their political influence is shrinking internationally......... They are a society in decline, and the reason for this decline is in their heads.

Just go to bed knowing that at best, we can expect the Germans not to get into our way with North Korea. But besides that, what "constructive" will they bring to the table. And if we push them to help, they will buck and cry and complain that we are a hegemony and imperialistic and that they as a sovereign state have a right to do nothing - although they like LG, Samsung, Hitachi, Kia, Hyundai, Daewoo and other products and also sure like to export their industrial machines, optics, tools, airplanes, cars and other products there, they will not be part of the solution.

Let me say this again. No matter how some want to redefine themselves here so that they can feel good; there is no honor nor higher moral cause in being a "Schmarotzer". It's "deeds" that matter, not words. Were do the Germans put their money, their blood, and for what will their leaders stick out their neck?

God doesn't measure nation or individuals by the human respect for achievements. He doesn't care for wealth (since God owns everything and we're just borrowing space and time), He doesn't care for strength of arms (since He's the most powerful), and He certainly doesn't care for what mankind calls beautiful (otherwise, we'd have had nature provide us with self-inflating or deflating breast and penis sizes).

There are certainly things that disappoint us in our mortal life. Family is usually the first and biggest disappointment. Jesus created this division (between father and son, mother and daughter, etc) because it's God's way of "divide and conquer". Why? Because God is very jealous for our devotion.

So, as far as I can understand my own disappoint in both my family and nation, it's God's way of making it easier to win my soul's affection for desiring the Perfection of Heaven even more.

What really sparks my interest in human history is Redemption. The Bible is full of Redemptive history, and God's Divine Mercy is opportunity for all individual, families, and nations to find Him and Reconcile when we fall from Grace.
