Bannock County prosecutors say they're handling a crime they rarely see - someone carelessly having sex while infected with HIV. Jeremy Johnson reports. Bannock County prosecutors say while this isn't the first case of its kind here, it definitely is unique. Kelvin Eugene Crawford has been charged with one count of transferring HIV to another person - a charge that could get him up to 15 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Crawford is already in the state prison for a parole violation on an aggravated assault charge. They say while the victim has not contracted HIV, the charge remains the same since infected body fluid was exchanged without the victim's knowledge.
Bannock County prosecutors say the burden of proof is on them in this case.

Well of course not. The saints that get aids just immediately stop the behavior that got them sick. Everybody know that.
"Bannock County prosecutors say they're handling a crime they rarely see"
Rarely see charged and prosecuted, they mean. I'm sure it happens frequently, though.
I assume they mean this other person had sex without knowing this man was infected, since I don't see how it's possible they had sex without him/her being aware of it without them also bringing in a rape charge.
Several years ago a judge here in Jackson county Michigan gave a man a jurisdictional eviction for "carelessness" while infected with HIV.
It really didn't matter because he also sentenced the guy to 40 years as a repeat offender due to a string of strong arm robberies. I guess he gets booted out of the county in another 20 or 25 years when he gets out of prison. (let's not forget, he's HIV positive and probably dead already)
It does not stipulate whether our hero is AC or DC. Hmmmm.
He ought to be charged with murder or attempted murder and put away.
Naaaaaw--AIDS is transmitted by a lack of government funding.
You'd have thought President Ronald Reagan caused AIDS, singlehandedly, from reading all the hysterical screeds published by pro-gay sources over the years.
There are two sides to every story...
Side A: This murderer (the crime is committed, it's just very slow in completion) deserves death himself.
Side B: It takes "two to tango". Indisctiminate unprotected sex is quite literally ASKING for SOME kind of trouble. It's hard to be very sympathetic to those infected through such careless behavior. On the other hand - anyone affected by it (adulterous spouse bringing the disease home to the marital bed would be an example) through no fault of their own... I do feel sympathy for them, although that's not what this article is about.
I think this kind of thing happens far more often than they think.
Very well stated. Not everyone who gets/gives AIDS is homosexual. There are some true victims in the mix.
I say it is an out right murder charge, Period.
