In general and despite the current bleak situation, we think that the best suggestions in order to get out of this crisis is to entangle the American forces into another war against another country or with another of our enemy force, that is to try and inflame the situation between American and Iraq or between America and the Shi'a in general.

Al Qaida has made some major mistakes:

• Attacking their benefactors in Saudi Arabia was the dumbest one. They pushed the Saudi government off the fence into our camp.
• Allowing Zarqawi to run out of control was another. He continually massacred innocents when the military targets got too hard. He gave Al Qaida a bad reputation. They were no longer just the killers of Western infidels.
• Going "All-In" on Iraq. They committed so many resources to Iraq, dragged them in from all over the Middle East and even diverted some from Europe. Now they're losing. They've lost tens of thousands and have nothing to show for it but another defeat.

First Afghanistan, then Iraq. Now they're being rooted out of the remote sections in Afghanistan that served as sanctuaries. They probably could have stayed there but they insisted on launching offensives every spring.

They can all retreat to Somalia. Let them all come together for a last stand there.

Going "All-In" on Iraq. They committed so many resources to Iraq, dragged them in from all over the Middle East and even diverted some from Europe. Now they're losing. They've lost tens of thousands and have nothing to show for it but another defeat.

This was the "fly-paper" strategy discussed in great detail three years ago. Essentially AQ could not stay out of the fight because that would show their impotence. However by going into the fight, they were forced to commit their forces in the field.

Does anyone else see this as essentially a CAPITULATION on Iraq by the enemy?

I wonder what the Iranians will think about a plan to get them attacked by the US? How will they react to being framed?

I was actually suprised at this because it sort of sounds like they had a plan of some kind. You don't tend to think of these people as educated at all yet there is/was a method to their madness in some sense.
