BURBANK, Calif. (AP) - - (06/15/06)-- If you were expecting fireworks on the "Tonight Show" last night, you might be disappointed.

Jay Leno had on the original counter-culture comedian George Carlin and acid-tongued conservative Ann Coulter. But there was virtually no interaction between the two.

Carlin was first, and noted it was his 140th time on the "Tonight Show," dating back to the Jack Paar days.

When Coulter came out, Carlin moved over on the couch. He said he never thought he'd have to move to the right.

Thanks for organizing this again Ron, and keeping me informed. See? I made it this time.

Ann was really sharp and charming, especially at the after show party. She was even kind enough to point out to me where in "Godless" she tackled my most worrisome topic: the Liberal antihuman belief that the world is overpopulated.

I thanked her for riding point for all the rest of us conservatives. Her willingness to outrage the Left and dodge their potshots enables the rest of us to advance on and claim the ground she gains.

It was wonderful not needing to explain everything I was saying. She understood and advanced on every point I raised. If every celebrity was a bright as she, what we know today as the Left would have shriveled to nothingness by now.

I watched it last night & actually saw you in the audience during the opening....I was looking & your head stands out! You guys were LOUD & PROUD....it was fantastic.

Carlins material was stale, but he did something most on the left can't.....he didn't interrupt. Ann is so much fun to watch during this book tour as she is GIDDY. She is a joy to watch.
