More than 100 2-liter bottles of Diet Coke. More than 500 Mentos (Note: 1 of each will work). And two men in goggles and lab coats. You can imagine that this portends a fatefuland combustibleencounter. But perhaps you can't imagine just how combustible, nor how stylishly orchestrated. EepyBird compares the results to a "mint-powered version of the Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas." A Blue Man Group-hijacking of Old Faithful comes to mind too, though certainly the Bellagio corners the market on geyser choreographyuntil EepyBird, that is. After you ogle the video, take in some of the earlier experiments, such as the one that "didn't go quite according to plan" or the one that, gulp, "seemed like a good idea." If you find yourself wondering about the health repercussions of swigging a Diet Coke while mouthing a Mentos, EepyBird offers some reassuring science behind the explosively fresh soda/candy relationship.

Sad waste of diet Coke and Mentos. Well, at least it wasn't beer and Mentos.

After seeing those bizarre commercials they use to make for Mentos, such as the guy in the suit who sits on the bench that has just been painted and likes the way the paint gave him pin stripes, I thought they should always have changed the name to "Mentals".

DEFINITELY too much time on their hands.
You can get the same amount of fun by dumping detergent into the big fountain on Connecticut Avenue at Chevy Chase Circle at the Maryland/D.C. line, an old gag that used to be pulled at least once every month or so back in the 60's...LOL

Believe it or not a buddy of mine came over the other night with 4 2 liter bottles of diet coke and 3 packs of Mentos and insisted on doing this in my driveway.
The kids loved it anyway.

I heard Mentos is going to give these guys something for what they did.
Mentos couldn't pay an ad company to do this kind of publicity.

This stuff is pretty fun. Do you have the one of the Brit redhead with the 2L Euro Pepsi bottle in there? If not, let me know, and I'll find it and link it in. It's pretty amusing.

I got the same result in 1966 by dropping a tiny saccharin tab in ordinary soda.

Weird Al Yankovich did a parody of Mentos commercials on a tv special of his a while ago. He was introducing a video or something on the show from a lounge set up on the roof of a tall building somewhere when someone walked onto the set and started to irritate him for reasons I don't remember. He quickly got angry with the person and finally grabbed him and threw him off the roof. When asked by his astonished crew why he did such a thing, he paused, then smiled broadly and held up a pack of Mentos. LOL!

Something combustible is a substance that can be burned to provide heat or power.
Why do I expect those who report/edit the news to actually have a grasp on the language in which they report?
(grammar nazi/)
Sorry...

With all the great fireworks banned for the fourth of july, maybe mentos and diet coke would be fun!
