EMINEM is returning to the big screen in an updated version of a 1950s television Western.
Have Gun - Will Travel debuted on CBS in 1957 and ran until 1963.
Paramount Pictures has extended an 18-month option to develop it as a vehicle for the Detroit rapper.
Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, has committed to shoot the role and is excited about his latest opportunity, Interscope Records spokesman Dennis Dennehy said.
The concept of the series will be updated to contemporary times and feature Eminem playing a bounty hunter.
The 33-year-old Grammy-winning rapper rose to pop stardom by delivering a number of best-selling CDs, deeply personal lyrics and a starring role in the 2002 film 8 Mile.
Eminem is also expected to be involved in producing the soundtrack of the new film.
Have Gun - Will Travel starred Richard Boone, who earned Emmy nominations in 1959 and 1960 for his portrayal of gunfighter-for-hire Paladin.
Speculations as to the "bounty", anyone?
Agh! Hollyweird has sunk to a new low. What's next, Matt Damon as Barney Miller? J-Lo as Gidget?
Him? As Paladin?
Yeah, right... that's going to work...
Richard Boone would puke.
"Agh! Hollyweird has sunk to a new low. What's next, Matt Damon as Barney Miller? J-Lo as Gidget?"
Next will be "My Little Chickadee" staring Michel Moore and Barbra Streisand.
I think it would work as well as some other stupid H-wierd casting idiocy, such as, oh I don't know -- how about Will Smith as James West?
I can't imagine Eminem trying to fill Richard Boone's boots in the role of Palladin.
I smell a flop in the making.
They would get J-Lo to play the "Flying Nun" but they couldnt get her fat ass off the ground.
Nobody would be stupid enough to cast Will Smith to play Jim West.
Huh?? They already did?
Shows how many of todays movies I watch.
