Today our courageous and intrepid Commander in Chief and Leader of the Free World......a world freer because of his courage and leadership, made a surprise visit to Baghdad. It was his second visit to Iraq, the first being made at Thanksgiving in 2003, and not announced until he had already departed Iraq. This trip was different. Air Force One landed at Baghdad airport and the President with a handful of reporters, and his Press Secretary, Tony Snow took a Black Hawk helicopter into the Green Zone.
He met with new Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, who was informed only shortly before the Presidential visit, and they met together with the newly formed Iraqi Cabinet in a video conference with the President's Cabinet who were gathered at Camp David, Maryland in a remarkable moment in history. He also met with Iraq's President Jalal Talabani during a private meeting to discuss Iraq at the U.S. Embassy.
The President then spoke to military personnel and Embassy personnel at the U.S. Embassy, thanking the troops, and giving a moving speech about the noble mission in Iraq. He was deeply emotional as he discussed their sacrifice and their accomplishment, and the pride that Americans have in them, as well as the amazing progress in the newly sovereign Iraq.
First Lady Laura appeared today at a fundraiser for Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum while her husband was 'away.' She spoke there of her pride in her husband. She also appeared at a fundraiser for New Jersey's Tom Kean.
Here are the President's comments during video conference
And here are the pool reports from Drudge...........some good reads...............right HERE
The President is, as I type this, on his way home. Dear Lord, please continue to protect our brave, strong President as he leads this nation through perilous times. Keep him close to Your side, we pray!
Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose. It has NEVER been a better day to be a BUSHBOT!!
All the pics are wonderful.
I love the one in post 35 with Rummy giving a thumb's up!
Was just pointing out to hubby how happy W looks, truly joyful, full of purpose and absolutely refreshed.
The Iraqi Prime Minister looks like he's seen a world of woe.
I hope W's visit lifts him.
Yes!! Success because of our brave troops and their amazing leader!
these pics are great! the troops really loved seeing their president!
LOL! I'd love for it to be Condi!
Hello Kelly great to see you have you broken up from school yet?
I have that picture as a screensaver, oWf!!! I didn't realize it was your son! so cool
Yes the President is very genuine person- down to earth. We could see that today as President Bush shook hands with our wonderful troops. He looked them in the eye and spoke to each one as much as he could-very nice, soft and wonderful touch for a President and CIC.
Glad that you found it too. Welcome to our oasis hope to see you on a regular basis.
GREAT day!
Political theater?? Insanity has taken over every last one of them, SoCal.....
Hey! What this? A pic of your hottie and NO ping to me?
Mike
We may not see the likes of him in our lifetimes.
You know, looking at those pics of our service men and women apparently thrilled to be with their CIC, I can't help but think about the poll numbers touted by Old Media and the citizens swayed by the fake "news." All one need do is look at how loved President Bush is by the very people who are laying their lives on the line on his orders to understand that something is not right in those "news" stories.
Brava, snugs!! Beautiful pictures on a beautiful day.
"I don't think there has ever been a CinC that the troops love as much as President Bush....."
and vice versa!!
[His speech to the troops today spoke volumes about his love for them and their love for him!!]
Thanks for the heads up on the replay of Pres. Bush in Baghdad at 9 pm PDT on C-span.
I don't trust C-span, so I'll check in ahead of time.
Sometimes they start early so they make us miss it. Sometimes they play a rabid leftie so we have to sit through a major propaganda load of altered reality waiting for our sane leader.
These pics just show the tremendous love our soldiers have for their CIC. They are almost trampling each other just to shake his hand. What a day! Dubya in Iraq, Rove cleared of any wrongdoing, Iraq's new cabinet. I'm almost feeling sorry for the DUmmies...NOT. BTW I love this President!
