Saying the law is on her side, a Mexican-American leads the charge in Illinois against illegal immigrants
Protesters supporting illegal immigrants had drowned out a debate planned by religious leaders at a Chicago church. They hurled individual invectives -"go home racist Nazis," "Minutemen kill" - which gave way to a synchronized, momentum gathering, pew-shaking chant.
"Hitler rose. Hitler fell. Racist Minutemen go to Hell."
Police eventually escorted the rowdiest of the protesters out of the church last month. They didn't go quietly. Later, Rosanna Pulido - founder of the Illinois Minuteman Project, the first chapter of the group in a nonborder state- would say one tried to take a swing at her.
Through it all, Pulido sat serenely above the fray in a chair near the altar. She waved, pointed and rolled her eyes.
She smiled copiously.
"I'm sad," she said after the shouting ended to a throng of television and print reporters gathered around her. "This was supposed to be an open forum to let people speak their minds."
But it's these types of dramatic encounters between Minutemen and pro-immigration supporters - similar showdowns occurred in Arlington Heights and Elgin earlier this year - that have made Pulido the face of the anti-illegalimmigration movement in Illinois.
A face with traces of Mexican ancestry. A face that, when it doesn't enrage or inspire, perplexes.
Pulido - a woman of Mexican descent who's dedicated her life to fighting illegal Mexican immigrants - is another knot in the emotionally charged tangle of immigration.
Watching Pulido at the abortive debate, Niuris Ramos questioned the activist's motivations and loyalty.

"She confuses me," said Ramos, who is Puerto Rican.
NO, YOU WERE CONFUSED ALREADY!
DO NOT BLAME IT ON ME!!!

Bump for later.
Yes. Apparently, Minutemen force illegals to take different routes into the country, though desert heat and vipers and rattlers, without enough food or water, and they succumb. That is their "reasoning."
"Niuris Ramos questioned the activist's motivations and loyalty."
Loyalty to who?
Obviously she's loyal to exactly who she should be!
The USA!
WOW! is exactly right. That chant about Hitler is over the top.
I forgot to mention that this is only an Excerpt!

It almost sounds like the thing that makes them the maddest is the fact that she's hispanic herself. Pretty typical of the open border crowd really. Call the minutemen racists and try to drive anyone of another race from view because it interferes with the illusion. Look at the rage Michelle Malkin inspires.
I have several friends in Texas who are second+ generation from mexico and are born and rais 100% American. Their views on the immigration topic makes me look liberal. I can't repeat some of the things they say.
They are Mexican refugees.
They have not even the color of our immigration law, so they are not even qualified as aliens at all.
MEXICAN REFUGEES........TAKING REFUGE FROM A NATION THAT IS USING THEM AS A WEAPOM AGAINST THE USA.
Thats the truth of it.
typical.
when they can't win an argument, resort to screaming democrat slogans.
that would make them "illegal invaders", would it not?
"refugee" lends them unwarranted sympathy-
like they came from a country without a government. they have one( a crappy one) ,but they have one.
Police Chief Garrett Chamberlain came to Chicago over the weekend. he calls them
Crim-aliens
I'm partial to "crimmigrants"
Pulido - a woman of Mexican descent who's dedicated her life to fighting illegal Mexican immigrants
One would only be perplexed at someone of Mexican decent fighting against criminal activity if one makes the assumption that ALL MEXICANS are criminals or support criminals. Seems pretty racist to me!
