Bill Clinton blames GOP environmental policies for hurricanes

ORLANDO, Fla. - As Tropical Storm Alberto threatened to strengthen into the ninth hurricane in 22 months to affect Florida, former President Clinton predicted Monday that Republican environmental policies will lead to more severe storms. ADVERTISEMENT

"It is now generally recognized that while Al Gore and I were ridiculed, we were right about global warming," Clinton said at a fundraiser for the Florida Democratic Party. "It's a serious problem. It's going to lead to more hurricanes."

Gore's documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth," chronicles the former vice president's efforts to educate the public about global warming. It's in limited release around the country.

In his critique of the GOP, Clinton also touched on the war in Iraq, the rising federal deficit and high health care costs. The crowd of about 500 greeted him with loud applause and shouts of "We love you, Bill!" and "Four more years!"

Jeff Sadosky, spokesman for the state Republican Party, decried Clinton's rhetoric. " Bill Clinton's class warfare and race-baiting message gets us no closer to solutions for the issues he brings up," he said.

Sadosky referred in part to Clinton's comments earlier this month in Arizona. At that event, Clinton characterized Republican Party leaders as right-wing, white Southerners.

Have you noticed that all of the Democrats are jumping on this "issue?"

Harry Reid was on TV yesterday ranting about how Bush is to blame for "Alfredo."

Al Gore is out there doing the same. Hillary is in the act.

The Dems have decided to make this their 2006 issue.

Man, they are desperate.

It has been concluded already that the increase in hurricans is from a natural cycle of warming the Atlantic that has happened before - a number of times. So, Clinton and Gore are lying as usual.

Republicans can create hurricanes! And who said God wasn't on our side? We are all powerful! You think these hurricanes are something, just watch this! Behind closed doors we are whipping up a blizzard for the east coast for the middle of July! /sarc

Both Clinton and Gore are liars. It was much warmer 1,000 to 2,000 years ago. Little ice in Greenland for instance, so I guess it was the SUVs that were the cause and not the heat of the sun as is the normal cycle. People who believe that warming in the cause of humans are totally dumb and have no education. Must have been educated in government schools and believed all the lies they were told.

What ever happened to good ole Slick Willy, the one that had the good sense to never speak his mind?

Gore's buddy, Werner Von MethLab, must have paid Billy another visit.

what is sad and scary is that this is considered "dot-connecting" among the mentally-challenged dem activist types.

"See! Hurricanes = global warming...Al and I we're right! Dang! It's a conspiracy! Mark my words....the Carolina Hurricanes will probably even win the Stanley Cup, too! We can blame Rove for that as well!"
