...U.S. authorities said Monday that dententions along the U.S.-Mexico border decreased by 21 percent,to 26,994,in the first 10 days of June, compared with 34,077 for the same period a year ago...Detentions dropped 31 percent to 8,308 from 11,977, along the Texas and New Mexico border.
(and I love this next sentence)"Some migrants have told me (Francisco Lourenio, who runs a migrant shelter in Nogales, Mexico) they heard about the troops on television and, because the U.S. Army doesn't have a very good reputation, they prefer not to cross.".....

Just more evidence that if we wish to suppress the illegal crossings into America, it CAN be done. Look what a handful of troops have accomplished. Good Lord, that's quite a drop.

And here I thought we would get to add Mirtant to the Free Republic Lexicon of Transmogrified Verbiage.

Hey, the troops should not be allowed to scare the migrants! Get the ACLU! Get the reporters from La Raza to interview scared migrants! Get Chuck Hagel and Mel Martinez! How dare the troops do something so awfully shocking as scaring the migrants!
( This post is in satire. If you don't get it...well...flame away!)

This is pure BS, put out by our wonderful politicians to make you think that it is working. The troops are digging ditches NOT patroling the border and the ILLEGALS know it. Besides they are not located in the remote areas that many ILLEGALS use to cross. Pure and simple propaganda BS to get our votes and keep the RINOS in office. Can't have conservatives actually voting for conservative candidates now can we?

Actually, being (like yourself) an experienced FR-hand, I anticipated that the headline might be corrected. That's why I reproduced it. Anticipating the "Huh?!"-factor.

Wisdom has two components: 1)Having lots to say 2) And not saying it.
Misspelt words are not new.

"We've heard that there are soldiers and armed 'migrant hunters,' but we have to try," Miranda said.
Soldiers yes, Angrily Armed American Vigilants, Maybe later on. But keep on spreading the word.

I copied it exactly as written in the newspaper.

Thanks, it comes from one of my favorite movies of all time. The Lion in Winter with Peter O'toole and Katherine Hepburn.
So very accurate in it's concept as well :)
