This Air Force website tells if your information was on the infamous stolen VA laptop. I don't know if it works for non-USAF types, but what can it hurt to try now?

I entered my social and it says I am not affected. I hope that's the truth.
Cheers,

When you went to this site, did you get a computer message that this site may be pretending to be what it says to get your personal information?
To: SZonian

It only checks active duty, guard and reserves. It doesn't check retirees or personnel who separated short of retirement. Good source though. Thanks.

It says I am not affected. I have to wonder if it is checking against a full list of affected veterans or a list of affected USAF veterans.
Last week I got a notice from the IRS on behalf of VA, which stated they were still trying to determine precisely who was affected. The letter explained that the VA went to the IRS to be sure they had the most up to date address information for each SSN.
Thanks for posting the link.

I am not finding a match for AF.MIL
I can not trace it either. SSL certification can be fudged. I can't verify the owners. I know that this is supposed to be a government site but........
I got my letter from the VA telling me I was exposed. If it is not an official letter from the VA, consider it a scam.

Caal me a skeptic here....
****CAUTION *******
I went to the Air Force Personnel Website and searched for this option.
What I found says:
It says:
How do I know if information about me was stolen?
At this point, we do not have information available to confirm the specific individuals whose personal information may have been included in this data loss. VA just recently identified through a data match with the Department of Defense (DoD) that information on approximately 2.2 million servicemembers and reservists was also included on the lost data file. The investigation is ongoing.
Letters are being released to the affected individuals beginning on June 3. Because of the number of affected individuals, the letters will be released over a period of about two weeks. Those who have been affected should expect to receive a letter by June 15. This timeframe may vary by a few days based on postal service schedules for mail delivery.

I would go to your link and try to get there. I was unable to get to the like posted on this thread. I was sent to the *firstgov link that I posted above.
I'm not saying it is fake, I would be careful though.

That is pretty much what I expected. I haven't gotten mine yet.
Probably goes something like: "As far as we can tell it doesn't appear that your information was compromised."
Then the disclaimer: "The information provided is based on facts that we have found. It may or may not be correct."
More than likely if they say it WAS compromised they will tell you, they probably have no way of knowing that you were not compromised.
My Dad is safe though, he was in before they used SSN. Oddly enough my original Social Security card (I still have it) specifically states that the number is not to be used as identification. So much for truth in government.....
I subscribed to a credit monitoring service. Hopefully that will catch anything that goes wrong.
Cordially,
GE

I got the same letter. It was a complete waste of paper. I wonder (1) how much this mailing cost, and (2) whether the guy/gal who took the info home with him/her still as a job at the V.A.
To: Preachin'
I got mine yesterday also. Not a damn word in there anywhere about who to contact about the class action law suit that is coming.
