My Shoei is pretty comfortable with the vents wide open at any speed over 30mph. It's not horribly uncomfortable except at stoplights in the Texas sun where it can get pretty miserable. I'm seriously thinking about getting a half-helmet for in town trips where I know I'm going to be spending a lot of time at lights.

(What!? Read or learn something? Why would anyone do that, when they can just go on being stupid)

Flip-up face might be your ticket. I love mine. I flip it up at stoplights or to pump gas or go into a 7/11.
I road the chopper the other day and started to wear my non-DOT halfshell but I made myself wear the flip-up fullface even though it was 90 degrees.
I was glad I did when I got caught in a thunderstorm on the way home.
Note to all on flip-ups:
I don't know if it is my particular helmet or the design, but if I cock my head at a certain angle, the thing whistles. Other than that, I love it.
