There have been a lot of image updates this last week, although not so much in the U.S. Australia for instance got a lot of new hi-res. Also there is a new client 4.0 just released in beta today with an improved interface, and it is finally available on Linux.
I bet if China asked Google to accomodate their wishes on something like this, it would take them about 20 seconds to pull those images off the web.

I would point out the rather obvious fact that Google purchases their image data from widely used commercial sources for such images that anyone can purchase. It isn't like Google has spyplanes or satellites mapping the globe.
Alright I found it. It seems to have some cloudy imagery from DigitalGlobe at present. I would guess the resolution is one meter or so. But I still don't get your point.
Unfortunately, you're right. If it was otherwise, the Iraqi Ozark Reactor solution could be on the cards, and it would make the things much easier.
