So how did you end up at Folsom Prison, which is a California State Prison, for a state felony commited in Nevada?

The song doesn't explicitly state that he was in Folsom State Prison for THAT felony.

I am not OK with his murdering his ex wife, nor am I OK with his shooting the judge. But men do have feelings, and I am not ashamed of them, nor will you be able to shame me into denying them.

Emotionally ,I identify with the injustice which men suffer in todays divorce court systems. It drives some of them crazy enough to do what Mack did. I feel therefore, hope that he escapes, because the process of losiing his family he worked hard for, the incompatability of the spouse who grew apart from him after three children, for what ever reason, and the loss of three children so that he is only a visitor, a cash drone, and at financial loss, drove him insane. A good judge would have at least had him incarcerated for the safety of the family and himself. Instead he was driven insane and allowed to wander.

I would feel the same on the escape of a horse from a burning barn.Run free and far and don't look back.

Unfortunately that will not likely happen.

As many men have done in the past, he will likely commit suicide by the gun.

Who do I blame? The insensitive judge who by using a more just manner and sensitivity could have made things much safer for all than he did. Mack may have pulled the trigger on his ex and the judge, but its likely that the judge made him snap.

I am one of those who once consistently maintained that the system screwed me over. Nearly dying and an extended hospital stay forced me to reexamine parts of my life--and I realized that I had been a complete SOB to my wife. I've worked on rebuilding my relationship with my daughter since then.

How many men out there refuse to engage in even that much introspection and self-examination?

Who do I blame? The insensitive judge who by using a more just manner and sensitivity could have made things much safer for all than he did. How familiar are you with the facts of Mack's case? Can you say, with absolute certainty, that the judge acted unjustly or insensitively?

Mack may have pulled the trigger on his ex and the judge, but its likely that the judge made him snap.

Whatever happened to the idea that we are responsible for our actions, and no one else?

I hjave a gut feeling of wanting to cheer for MACK if he is the shooter

If you end up getting shot by a lunatic that decided you were the cause of his personal problems, I'll cheer for him, OK?

I liked Dregas style. It all happened about 30 miles from my house. He just decided to go down shooting if he could not be free.

Town Officials where I live are very careful with people, even now years after it happened. He definitely brought about changes around here locally on how justice is served municipally.

Police believe the shots were fired from outside, but they do NOT know how many shots were fired or exactly where they came from.

A shotgun laoded with double 00 buck? I doubt a rifle was used or the police could easily create a reciprocal vector even from one bullet.

So, how come you're not emulating him? Are you content to be a slave?

How much satisfaction could there be to console an assailant while serving their time in prison if the victim has no idea who did them in?

You really think murderers are being rational when they are pulling the trigger?

I think most dads do get treated shabbily in family court, but no matter how much guys are pushed, yall don't go around shooting judges.

Why not? Maybe if a few dad's go off the deep end the others wont get killed in court.

I am just too busy emulating you.

I life in a state of freedom, and look with a long eye to the future on that, a natural gift thanks to my father and his father. Maybe I will move to Alaska or Texas next, but I am hardly tempted to have a shoot out at the OK corral. Unlike Mack or Drega, I know how to avoid being driven insane.

Thats the ultimate protection of freedom, and one that rarely is spoken of.

So the rebellion towards injustice is something that many of us would like to lose, or bury. I do not belive it buriable, which is why we have a 2nd amendment, and the moral right to reject government if it is not approved by the people, as it says in our declaration of independence.Mack and Drega went crazy and acted alone.Other than that there isn't much difference between them and most ordinary peaceful Americans.

And the options you would give me, fight or flee? But that doesn't change my emotional feeling that either Drega or Mack, might have possibly gotten away from the system that drove them crazy in the end.

What about his children's feelings? The ones who will grow up without their mother forever? I guess they don't count to this "concerned, loving" father, right?

Unlike Mack or Drega, I know how to avoid being driven insane.

It's not a matter of being "driven" insane. It's a matter of choosing to continuously make excuses for one's failures, and convincing one's self that it's all someone ELSE's fault, and to conclude that your rights are absolute, and that no one else has any rights at all.

One cannot be "driven" crazy by another's actions.

Mack and Drega went crazy and acted alone.

No, they didn't go "crazy." They knew that shooting at cops and judges was morally wrong.

Other than that there isn't much difference between them and most ordinary peaceful Americans.

In other words, you believe that all Americans are of exceptionally low moral character.

A good judge would have at least had him incarcerated for the safety of the family and himself.

Legally, incarceration is not an option absent clear and convincing evidence of criminal behavior (which this guy has now evinced) or clear and convincing evidence that he is a threat to the physical well-being of himself or others (which is extremely hard to prove).

In other words, you wish the judge had taken an option not legally open to him. No doubt you would then screamed bloody murder abput the father being denied liberty by the fascist judge.

Depends on the provocation.

Is a mother shooting a serial child rapist who keeps being released being rational?

Not everyone in this country is down at your level of moral relativism.

Can you say, with absolute certainty, that the judge acted unjustly or insensitively?

I don't know enough about the facts of the case to know whether and to what extent the husband had been wronged by the judge and/or the wife.

It is certainly possible for a child's mother to be a sufficiently evil person that the child would be better off raised by strangers than by the mother. I have no particular reason to believe that to have been the case in this instance (indeed, such circumstances are rare) but it would be conceivable.

It is also possible for public officials to be so thoroughly corrupt and well-protected that they cannot be removed by any means other than by assassination, and that their continued position of power does more to undermine the government's legitimacy than would their assassination. I have no particular reason to believe that to have been the case here (and again, such circumstances are rare) but again, it's conceivable.

Not a pretty situation, though, in any event.
