India on Monday condemned the killing of innocent civilians in an "unprovoked attack" by Israeli forces in Gaza on Friday and said the escalation of tension triggered by the incident could have "negative implications" on the already volatile and fragile situation in the region.
New Delhi urged all sides to desist from starting a new spiral of violence and counter-violence.
"India condemns the killing of innocent civilians, including women and children, in Gaza by Israeli defence forces in an unprovoked attack on Friday," External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said in New Delhi.
"The end of the ceasefire and the escalation of tensions that this tragic incident has triggered could have negative implications on the already volatile and fragile situation in the region," he said.
The spokesman emphasised India's firm conviction that there can only be a peaceful negotiated resolution to the Palestinian problem that results in the establishment of a sovereign, viable, independent state of Palestine living in peace and prosperity within secure borders in peaceful co-existence with Israel.

Jews are supposed to be targets and the daily rocketing of Israel is how it should be. Any Israeli response is "unprovoked".

Actually a left wing government was recently voted in. This is one of the sad results---along with a probable halt of India's great economic growth.

Condemning another fake atrocity staged by Muslims. You would think Indians would know better.
The US "Roadmap" plan basically echoes the same point. Nothing new here. Just the usual dhimmocracy. One day from tthe US, another day from Europe, and now, from India.
The US might make an occassional statement or two against Israel but more than makes up for it with military aid, consistent diplomatic support in a hostile world and a foreign policy that is pro-israel.
India does none of those things. They use Israel for access to military hardware and support the Palis.
Typical liberals these Indians. They only will understand it when it happens to them personally.
