So how did the U.S. end up doing in this year's WOrld Cup?

It's all about finishing, something the US has never been great at.

We played against Germany in the last WC, but they just didn't finish. That's my fear this time around, we can play with anybody, but will we make the most of the few opportunities we'll get.

The United States can let other countries, such as your Germany, be the leaders in soccer (although the Brazilians seem to have some animosity toward the United States).

You lot are in a tough group. Italy and the Czechs are favored to go through, and Ghana could surprise everyone. If the US fails to progress past the group stage it could be a step backwards for the sport in the US.

If you told me 25 years ago that the US would have better showing in a world soccer tournament than one in basketball or baseball I would have called you a moonbat.

The only thing wrong with soccer is that the field needs to be longer and wider.

I'm hoping Italy v. Ghana tie to ensure that both teams lose points and neither builds up a large goal differential.

The collectivists socialists communists all adore soccer. Now it's going to be flung in my face for the next six weeks as this retarded world cup gets played out. It's the UN with kicking a ball and head butting. A 3rd world cesspool can beat a civilized industrial nation and live for years on the bragging rights. They won't care if they only have rice and beans to eat just so long as they whipped country X ten years ago in the world cup

We have a great team. They'll never become celebrities in the way foreign football stars are icons in their homelands but they have talent. Its unfortunate they happen to be playing in what for most Americans, is the Rodney Dangerfield of team sports. And I say this as a lifelong World Cup fan.

Ironically I feel the US Soccer team has gained what little 'fame' is has because it is largely shunned at home.

Typical and predictable... and more the reason to let the 'hard core' rock on and enjoy the underdog status, while I watch tha' birds (Eagles for you heathens)

Once upon a time I attended a soccer game and actually saw a goal scored.
