A discussion about protests by an anti-homosexual church at the funerals of fallen American soldiers turned into an astounding shoutfest on national television this weekend, with Fox News host Julie Banderas calling a fire-and-brimstone Christian preacher "the devil" and apparently condemning her to hell.
"You are the devil!" Banderas exclaimed to Shirley Phelps-Roper. "If you believe in the Bible, miss, you're going to hell!" Phelps-Roper: "You're proud. You're proud of your sins. You can't do enough sinning. You think 'gay' pride, bimbo. You have sinned away your day of grace."
Banderas: "OK, you are an abomination."
Phelps-Roper: "America is doomed. America is doomed. ... Before your eyes, missy, you're gonna see the destruction of America."
Big deal!
So can Satan!
This is the plan.
The poster boys for the Rainbow movement are the folks next door: NOT the flamin' retches you'll see posted in this thread.
Nice to see a media person quote the Bible.
Actually; she doesn't!!!
NIV Proverbs 1:7
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. Exhortations to Embrace Wisdom
NIV Proverbs 2:1-5
1. My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,
2. turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding,
3. and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,
4. and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5. then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
NIV Proverbs 9:10
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
NIV Proverbs 10:27
The fear of the LORD adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.
NIV Proverbs 14:27

NIV Proverbs 15:15-16

NIV Proverbs 15:33

NIV Proverbs 16:6

NIV Proverbs 22:4
Humility and the fear of the LORD bring wealth and honor and life.
NIV Proverbs 23:17
Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the LORD.
Yep. I think she held it together well though--could have been much worse. I can only imagine how a less professional reporter would have handled it.
Good post.
I love it!
Genesis 13:13
Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.
Genesis 18:20-21
20. Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous
21. that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."
Genesis 19:4-7
4. Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house.
5. They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."
6. Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7. and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing.
Psa. 12:8 8 The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.
Isaiah 3:9
The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.Ezekiel 16:49-50
49. "`Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.
50. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
9. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Don't be sorry. That nutjob did have it coming. It's refreshing, in my book, to see someone take a stand. Not enough people will show that kind of backbone. I though she handled herself pretty well considering how angry she was, rightfully so. That lady was wrong about her misuse of Scripture and the tactic she has of disrupting someone funeral. I think that the funeral disruption is what set Julie Bandaras off so much. There's no excuse for that.
Proverbs 8:13
"To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech."
Proverbs 8:12-14

You were saying????
I saw the entire piece. It was not edited and as reported. JB was righteously angry at this abomination - Phelps.
That mm was NO LADY!!
I stand corrected. :)
Yeah, they're definitely a few fries short of a happy meal.
Might check NIV Proverbs 16:6 via a concordance. Some "translations" may be more what she stated.
Bandaras is cute when really angry.
__________
She's cute all the time.
The lady is obviously a psycho leading a cult... BUT.... there is presidence for what she's saying. I think the bible would teach that Israel sinned it's self out of God's grace more than once.
Great line
......."You are an abomination!"
Proverbs 8:13 NIV
"To fear the LORD is to hate evil."
Bandaras was correct.
This may very well be true, but it in no way sanctions the behavior of these people. It only leaves one to believe that they are not Christians either.
I'd like to be the microscope in their lives which are clearly full of seething hatred. If they can show us where in the Scriptures such things are condoned by Christ, it'd be very interesting.
