Speak of Coulter? We must
The Palm Beach POst ^ | 06/11/06 | Palm Beach Post Editorialist

If Ann Coulter wrote about herself the way she writes about others, she might be an "elitist shrew who is ignoring state election law to save her own skin." Or worse.

Instead, the self-appointed defender of American democracy and values is fighting allegations, which The Post's Jose Lambiet first exposed in February, that rather than correct her address, she voted in the wrong precinct during the Feb. 7 Palm Beach election. Rather than admit her error, correct her registration and move on, Ms. Coulter has hired former U.S. Attorney Marco Jimenez to defend her from the indignity of having to follow the law.

Ms. Coulter is the book world equivalent of a shock jock. She started with hyberbole in her first screed eight years ago, so it isn't surprising that for her fifth and latest she had to seek dizzying levels of incoherence and meanness. But the Ann Coulter who in Godless castigates four New Jersey 9/11 widows as "the Witches of East Brunswick," saying "I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much" is happy to play victim as soon as the heat gets high.

During her Tuesday spewfest on Fox News' Hannity & Colmes, Ms. Coulter made clear that she doesn't want her home address to grace a public record, even if it is required for voting. "Do you need my Social Security number?". "Should we get my stalkers on the line with my address and apartment number?" Then she blamed The Post. "When you go to the bush-league newspapers," she said, "you get all the venom of The New York Times, but they're all retarded."

But what did happen? Did someone who just looked like Ann Coulter try to vote using the home address of Ann Coulter's real estate agent? When the imposter was told that she was in the right place but had to fill out a change-of-address form, why did she leave and vote in the wrong place? It must have been an imposter, because surely the Ann Coulter who was a stickler for the law during the 2000 election recount - labeling the Florida Supreme Court a "kangaroo court" because she disagreed with its rulings - never would knowingly violate the law, then lash out at those who try to enforce it. Would she?

This is the letter I wrote in response. They seldom publish my letters.

The PBP has provided me with a lot of enjoyment the last several days. From a unflattering cartoon of Ann Coulter, to an editorial about her, the PBP really seems angered by her audacity.

Who is she to have opinions so blatantly heterodox in the face of all the mephitic orthodoxies assumed by the left?

Imagine the arrogance of a conservative woman hiring a lawyer? Who does she think she is?

What appears to have especially angered so many on the extreme left, the PBP included, is her statements about the women whose family members were murdered by terrorists.

In their objections, they prove the very point Ann was making in her book.

"...The Democrats hit on an ingenious strategy: They would choose only messengers whom we're not allowed to reply to. That's why Democratic spokesmen these days are sobbing, hysterical women. You can't respond to them because that would be questioning the authenticity of their suffering."

Let's see how the PBP editorialists repond to a woman of impeccable "credentials" when it comes to one who suffered every bit as much as the women who have tried to use the terrorist attacks for partisan political advantage.

From "The Telegraph" 06/27/04...

"Among the activist leaders of 9/11 families' groups it is safe to say that Debra Burlingame - whose brother, Charles, was the pilot of the plane that crashed into the Pentagon - is not a uniformly popular figure."

"Ms Burlingame, a staunch Democrat, has become the first public 9/11 "dissident" - a vocal critic of the "blame game" being played over the al-Qaeda attacks - and an unlikely defender of George W Bush. For good measure, the outspoken former lawyer describes some of the bereaved 9/11 families as America's "rock stars of grief".

I am looking forward to reading what the PBP has to say in response to Debra Burlingame whose thoughts Ann Coulter echoes.

Very good. It always helps to back up your assertions with facts and quotes. I am sure your letter will go in the circular file.

I'm not coulters biggest fan one way or the other. She's just another pundit among the herd.

The blame game goes around for all sides.....

But the question remains, did Ms. Coulter use a false address on her voter application form and sign the oath on the form certifying that everything was correct on the form? If she did then she needed to correct it. If she didn't then the election officials were in error.

Is Ms. Coulter still registered in Connecticut? I read on some blog that she was.

Ann reportedly has some serious stalker problems of the worst kind. She's trying to keep her address secret, exactly what the media is trying to make public knowledge.

I hope she whips the left with every stick she can find.

I read somewhere that Ann Coulter has a stalker, I can understand why she wouldn't want to reveal her actual home address when voting. There must be someway to handle a situation like that.

In 2000 a friend who had a very serious operation wanted to vote but the polling place was such that it was in an open muddy field and it was raining all day which made the field even more slippery, she went a few block away to another polling place that was on the inside of a church and asked if there were any way she could possibly vote there.

The ones in charge went to the other polling place called some who were higher ups and requested that the woman place her ballot right there in a closed safe place, after a hour or so of making certain they followed all the laws the woman was able to cast her vote, but every legal precaution was taken to ensure they followed the law to the letter.

"Ann reportedly has some serious stalker problems of the worst kind."

You might have to blame FR for that. If TBLSPN was still allowed to spend his day here posting at 38 threads per hour Coulture wouldn't have that problem.

The real question is this: How many illegal aliens have voted for Democrats in the past 10 years in close elections resulting in a Democratic (but not democratic)victory?

Just what I need, a lesson on proper voting procedures by the biggest voting fraud practitioners on the entire planet, the "liberal" Dim-O-Craps.

Absurdity and arrogance to the Nth degree.

''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''

Also, John Kerry and Jack Murtha fall into the same category. Former war heroes who gave meritorious service to their country were supposed to be able to make the treasonous arguments espoused by the leftists and be unassailable by conservatives because of their past war records.
The reverse is also true. White males are believed to be unable to make statements about, women, minorities, gays and entitlements because they are democrat symbols of the oppressor American imperialist racist, bigot, homophobe.
Ann, knowing the enemy quite well simply takes their sacred cows and pushes the buttons to produce the desired responses which expose these anti-American, anti-freedom, one world socialists for what they truly are, subversives, attempting to destroy the American way of life, and reduce the United States to a small peice of the world socialist order, run of course by the American left.

Slander, pure. Here it is: Coulter's voting address and any attempt she may have made to vote with a wrong address is an slanderous point to bring up in a discussion about her book. It's an unrelated issue, thrown in only for the effect of defaming her.

I can certainly understand Ann's dilemma. I know that in my work, I have to be very guarded about my personal information lest a disgruntled client decides to retaliate. Being as high profile as she is, Ann attracts nut jobs on both sides. She has inflamed some of the most vicious extremists on the left, not the least of whom is the queen beast herself (with a trail of bodies in her wake), by simply telling the unsugar-coated truth about them. On the other extreme are her adoring fans, among whom are certainly those who aren't tethered too well. Even here on FR, there are men who can't mention her name without nearly wetting their pants. If I were in her shoes, I would find a way to keep my private life far from public access.

It seems to me that I remember reading somewhere a while back, that there is a legal way that celebrities, and Ann really is a celebrity in her own right, can handle keeping their private information out of public record with good cause. There are just too many lunatics with computer skills and connections in high powerful places.

Tsk tsk tsk... no respect for a lady. Don't they think she might have a valid reason for not voting close to home? There are two sides of the story. But liberals want people to think they're the ones who are always right.

LOL I once called into Randi Rhodes's talk show when she was still a local. Randi is now on Air America. In any event, she was complaning that we Palm Beach County voters were confused over the "butterfly- ballots" and that is why Gore lost.

I called and told her I was not confused but when I said I wasn't confused because I was a white, male, heterosexual, Christian, she hung-up.
