Jealous guardians of high standards or just . . . jealous? There was a rare bit of consensus on tonight's Fox News Watch, as journalists from left and right came together to excoriate Ann Coulter for what they judged to be her money-motivated excesses in her latest opus, 'Godless: The Church of Liberalism'. The focus was on Coulter's controversial statements about the Jersey Girls - the 9/11 widows turned harsh Bush administration critics. Highlighted was this excerpt from Ann's book:
"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them . . . I have never seen people enjoying their husband's death so much."
Here's a sampling of statement's from the News Watch crew:
National Review editor Rich Lowry observed that those who publicly proclaim their outrage "might as well go to the bank, take out bags of money, and hand them to Ann Coulter. This is bait. They take it every single time. And Ann, no matter what you think of her, is a marketing genius."
Lefty Neal Gabler: "I blame anyone who puts this lunatic on their air or gives her a forum. If she were a 300-pound balding man, she would be just a crackpot."
Jim Pinkerton, columnist at Newsday and TCS: "I think she jumped the shark on this one. She went too far. She crossed the line. She's like a heroin addict. She's addicted to publicity and money. And eventually it destroys you."
Summed up Jon Scott, guest-hosting for Eric Burns "ka-ching, ka-ching."
To you want a bet, not one of them have seen the book and the only thing they know about it is what they have heard in the MSM.
Who cares what these trained pigs say? You go, girl!
P.S. Ann, you could use a cheesburger or two. I'd be happy to make them for you if you ever get out this way...
Yeah, you've gotta have a frothing-mouth liberal on a news show that trashes the media. Without one, it's a bore.
I probably will. I emailed NewsWatch and expressed my admiration for Ann. She is an impressive young lady.
No bonehead. The millionaire broads "went too far" and "crossed the line" when they exploited the deaths of their husbands for personal, political and financial gain. This isn't rocket science boys. Now that FOX has swerved over to Georgie Soros' left, they have become just too "sensitive." Maybe they should have invited the "Jersey Girls" on the show and gave them all a "hug."
Today I walked down to the Bay (actually a little bayou off St. Andrew Bay) and 'limited out' on speckled trout.
Family fish-fry tonight.
I was cheating because I was listening to a local talk station while fishing.
Have no idea who Gabler is - but that's a funny line. I don't care who you are.
Did Gabler just take a cheap shot at Fat Jack Murtha?
Now if airhead Arianna Huffington wrote a book saying the exact same things, but about everyone associated with Bush, they would be drowning in the saliva they would generate panting over her.
You are correct. Very, very close to the bone.
"Jim Pinkerton, columnist at Newsday and TCS: "I think she jumped the shark on this one. She went too far. She crossed the line. She's like a heroin addict. She's addicted to publicity and money. And eventually it destroys you.""
So that's where you got the tripe you were dispensing last night. You twisted the writer's words to suit yourself.
Isn't that a hallmark of the left?
Why would you be this way? I don't get it. You are better than that.

Why is it that every time I hear Neal Gabler's name, I think of "Knob Gobbler" of South Park fame?
I think you just ruined Gobbler's life. LOL!
Fox News Watch is an anomaly of the Fox News Network. It is a screwball show that should be cancelled. I don't know how it ever got on in the first place.
Then Fox weekend ratings must be truly pathetic.
Your point about Sheehan is valid and defining of the inequity in the application of criticism. Others, like Ward Churchill also get a pass and therefore make the criticism of Ann's content moot. I like her attitude and agree with her conclusions.
