NJ still hasn't figured out why old rich people from NJ move to FL to die.

We aren't taxing rich people. The rich people are dead.
We are taxing their poor heirs, who just lost a loved one, and now watch as half their loved one's worldly posessions are taken by the government.

"So the estate tax cut went down in the Senate, to the cheers of class warriors everywhere. Congratulations to Democratic senators Evan Bayh, Mary Landrieu, Ron Wyden, and Mark Pryor -- all of whom voted against death-tax repeal after voting in favor of it a few years ago. At last, theyve come to their senses!"
America..remember these liars and crooks who vote to steal your family wealth via death taxation. GHOULS.

I can hear Mary Landrieu now. If they are going to continue to vote after they're dead, they can pay taxes.

Actually, IMO they should direct a great portion of the death tax back at paying back the National Debt.
I don't know who here can call themselves conservatives if they are unwilling to pay that bill, or at least try to with money after their death when they wouldn't need it.
How many believe in responsibility here in paying their tab and how many believe they should run away from the bill like the liberal hearted slugs they are?

The first job I had at 15 years old was given to me by a millionaire. The second job I had at 16 years old was given to me by a millionaire. As a matter of fact all the jobs I have ever had have been given to me by millionaires with the exception of my last job. It was given to me by a multi trillionaire, the United States Government. Rich people have been very good to me. Poor people have done nothing for me and they have done nothing for other poor people. Do not save the whales, save the millionaire he may save your a$$ when you need a job.

the biggest class warrior is Larry "open borders" Kudlow.
Anything that lowers the wages of the average American and puts money in HIS pocket wins his support.
Sorry Larry, we don't don't care that you have to pay an estate tax on your millions. Why not move to Mexico?

I just saw Jeff Birnbaum, a total fool that somehow gets paid by Fortune magazine (I think) on a CSPAN call in show actually say about the "estate" tax (liberal euphemism), "well, I never have met anyone that didn't try to create wealth because of the estate tax".
HUH?
That's like saying, "I never met a bank robber that didn't try to create wealth by worrying about going to jail". This guy is a typical left wing IDIOT!
He can't make an actual point as to why taxing already taxed money upon your death is a good idea so he spews forth non-sequiters and ridiculous analogies.
I hate liberals. I hope they all die painfully.

It is a lie that only people with estates worth $2 million are affected by the death tax. EVERYONE who gives a gift with a monatary value is affected. THAT is the primary value of the death tax to the government. It's another way to keep tabs on what the plebs are up to.

I'm not at all familiar with tax policy regarding inheritance, but is it possible to somehow 'hide' some of your assets in interest bearing offshore accounts in a way that the government can't account for them? I assume that if such a thing were possible someone could save money there and have a beneficiary that could access the account in the event of a death.

Excellent satire from Larry Kudlow.
The sad part is that it's closer to the truth, than one would like it to be.
The Dems are indeed trying to turn the US into a socialist country, even though E Europe and the Ex-Soviet Union are historical examples of the failure of the socialist system -- and so are W Europe.
The capitalist system may not be perfect, but it sure beats all the other systems.
Destroying wealth is like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. The "rich" are already paying some 80-90% of the income taxes, what more do the Dems want, blood? And the rich not only pay taxes, but they are the ones who employ other people, who work, live, pay taxes.

Did anyone ping you to this excellent satire by Larry Kudlow, about today's "soak the rich and tax them out of existence" mentality?

As for all the xenophobes who want to deport the illegal immigrants who toil in this economy, may I respectfully suggest that their generals (i.e., Lou Dobbs, Pat Buchanan, and Tom Tancredo) consider expanding their dragnet? Lets deport rich people, too! Larry should have quit while he was ahead.

The Death Tax is of Marxist inspiration. Behind it is the idea it is a crime to be rich and to inherit your wealth and pass everything you've acquired during your earthly existence on to your heirs. There's also the nonsensical idea that the government has a first call on your assets - it steals it by force from you for your own good. No wonder the public hates the Death Tax. And of course, what's just about seeing the tax man man visit you the same day you're mourning?

My understanding is that the top 5% of the wealthiest class control 90% of the wealth. There's something really loop-sided about that. So I have no pity for the rich, or those "conservatives" that have lost there way....
