Slander, calumny and detraction are sins.
Those people who will not refrain from slander, calumny or detraction because they are sins, should refrain from them anyway, just because they make their arguments stink.

Being a cardinal, he is guilty through complacency. Go ahead and pretend the crazy aunt in the basement isn't noticed. Shame on them all and the fact they covered it up for years.
To have them preach morals at the rest of us is disgusting.

Truth is neither slander nor calumny (by definition). Detraction of someone for failing to keep order in his organization is hardly a sin.
